This is one of the most common questions we get:

Does a dull ringing sound really mean jade is treated or low quality?

Not necessarily. While a jade bangle’s sound can sometimes be influenced by its grade and quality, many other factors come into play, including its density, shape, mineral composition, and even how and where it’s struck as different areas of the same bangle can even produce different sounds.

While the sound of jade can offer some clues about its characteristics, a clear ring doesn’t automatically mean it is genuine or high quality - and a dull sound doesn’t mean the jade is fake.

So before judging a jade bangle by its sound, remember there’s more to consider than how well it rings.

Does a certificate guarantee that jade is genuine?

Not always.

A certificate is only valuable if it's accurate, issued by a reputable gemological laboratory, and matches the piece of jade being sold. Unfortunately, fake certificates and incorrect claims do exist in the marker.

When purchasing jade, consider both the credibility of the certificate and the expertise of the seller. Genuine jade is about more than a document, it's about knowing exactly what you're buying.

Always take a moment to research and verify before you invest.
