Recently completed men’s Vedic rings

A nilambari and a ruby, both set in 18ct gold,
The back is open and rounded on both. That was the client’s request. It looks small in the photos because of how much gold sits around it, but the opening is quite large, the open back is important in Vedic jewellery a@d the gem has to be un-treated, larger than 2 carats (is usually prescribed) and meet the skin.

These have gone to Florida. Most of my custom work goes throughout Australia, to America and Singapore, though clients approach Shivoham from all over the world, called by something deeper.

Zambian emerald and Kashmir ruby. 18k gold, open back.
This commission is the second piece for a client who came to me last time for the yellow sapphire ‘pukraj’.
The emerald is Zambian, deep and cool, cut as an octagon and bezel set so the colour stays uninterrupted. Beneath it, a Kashmir ruby with that particular soft violet-rose you don’t see in stones from anywhere else. Kashmir material is genuinely scarce, the original workings gave out over a century ago, and what circulates is what’s already above ground. Finding one this clean, at this size is exceptionally rare.
Both are set open-backed, which is not a decorative choice. The stone needs to be exposed to the skin. In the Vedic system a gem works by light passing through it uninterrupted. Emerald for Budha, ruby for Sūrya. Intellect and sovereignty.
Pieces like this don’t repeat.

Rare stones, some of which took six months from sourcing to finished piece; cutting, setting, consecration. Fewer pieces, made with more specificity, in much smaller numbers than before.
