Lime Milkshake

Lime Milkshake Kiln fused and torch worked glass jewellery created in Tasmania, Australia. Plus, I really like Lime Milkshakes. Lime Milkshake started as a hobby.

Glass is comprised of a mixture of Sand, Lime and Soda, hence the name Lime Milkshake. I became chronically ill and developed a neurological disorder, forcing me to retire as a Remedial Massage Therapist. To help with my mental and physical therapy I needed something that engaged my frontal cortex. Something that improved my hand eye co-ordination as well as cognitive skills. I stumbled upon glass

making and it was love at first site. Glass and jewellery making gives me the freedom of creative expression as well as being able to create when my body is feeling well enough and resting when I need it. I create the beads by melting long glass rods in a flame and wrapping the molten glass around a steel mandrel. While the beads are still semi molten, I can add a diverse range of colours to create patterns as well as shape them with a variety of tools. The beads are then placed in a heated container filled with vermiculite to cool slowly. If the hot glass is cooled too fast, it gets thermal shock and the beads crack. Once I have enough beads, I remove them from the mandrels, clean them and then place them in a kiln to anneal. This is a technique similar to tempering chocolate-the kiln is held at a certain temperature for a particular amount of time to help harden the beads, so they become less fragile. This whole process is called Lampworking. I also use another technique called Freeze and Fuse. This is where I put powdered glass in moulds with a few drops of water and then place the moulds in the freezer for a few hours. Once they are frozen, I pop them out and fuse them in the kiln. This melts the powdered glass enough as to become one solid piece of glass, yet still hold its moulded shape. All Lime Milkshake jewellery is made with 304 stainless steel findings as well a kangaroo leather. If you would prefer your items to be vegan, I can use faux leather or cord. Please use the contact page to request this. Due to the nature of theses individually handmade items, there may be small imperfections present. Each piece is completely unique and one of a kind with no two pieces being the same. On the rare occasion that some items are made in multiple, they will be made with the same glass however the design may vary.

Glass blowing attempt #2
Before you watch the whole video, tell me how you think it will turn out πŸ˜… because I bet you can't guess 🀣

Okay SO… I did a thing πŸ˜…

I bought a hollow mandrel so I could attempt tiny glass blowing…

AND IT WORKED.

Like… it actually freaking worked???

I made a baby vase. A REAL ONE. With air and everything. I am unreasonably excited about this. 🀣

Then obviously I took it too far and made it glow in the dark because?? self control?? never heard of her.

Anyway I’m now emotionally attached to this weird little glowing orb and I fear this is a new obsession. πŸ₯°βœ¨

My first live demonstration and the first time teaching people I don't know 😬
I was so nervous about today but boy did I have nothing to worry about!
πŸ”₯ Lampworking is definitely not an art form that is easy to get the hang of, but the 3 gave it a go and smashed it! Their beads are in the kiln annealing as we speak and will be posted to them before the end of next week....provided I don't get distracted 🀣

Sometimes when we feel we are at a stalemate or that our creativity is stalling, have a look at how far you have come. πŸ’š You will be pleasantly surprised. ✨

You know me by now, no editing πŸ˜…πŸ€£πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
Anyway, with the coming up this Sunday and being sea themed, I thought I'd bring you along to make some seaglass beads.
If you are like me and have to watch everything in x2 because your attention span isn't that long, I will totally not be offended πŸ˜‚

🌊 There's just something about seaglass. πŸ’™
I don't know if it's because it's recycled, because it holds an untold journey or just how pretty it is-probably all 3 ♻️ ⏳ 😍
Either way, it's been such a long time since I looked through my stash that I forgot how happy it makes me. πŸ’• ☺️

So… markets. It’s been a hot minute πŸ˜…
The last one I did was the Art & Craft Fair in Latrobe back in November...(?) 2025, and before that? Honestly… who even knows πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

BUT I’m crawling out of my studio cave and hitting some markets this year, starting with:
🌊 Lilydale Village Summer Splash Market – Feb 22
This one’s ocean themed, so I’m going seaglass goblin mode.
Bracelets, earrings, all the salty little recycled glass treasures.

I’ll be set up alongside hubby in the van, so you can grab the best coffee you will ever have in your life and come lurk, say hi, touch some sea glass, and support small, slightly feral makers πŸ’™

I'm still here πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ just quietly chugging away on the background. Christmas break was freaking amazing. Full of friends...

Christmas break was freaking amazing. Full of friends and sunshine, just what I needed to get back into the new year with a fresh start. And boy have I hit the ground running. πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ
Can you believe that this isn't even the whole order?? 😲
There will be some happy little Vegemite's when this lot hits the wholesalers.
Plus another order bigger than this and a smaller (in comparison) on the way as well.
Busy lady. 🐝
