A couple of lessons that my head learned, but my heart hasn’t quite got the message:
💗 Bigger is not always better. More orders to pack, more stock to buy and store, rent to pay, employees to manage. That’s a major increase in stressors!
I know for a fact that the scenario above is too much stress for me to handle because I”VE BEEN THROUGH IT ALREADY! A few years ago, Blushery boomed! I got a commercial space, I had 5 staff, and I weight on my shoulders that was ultimately too heavy for me to carry. So I went back home again and ran the business solo from my spare bedroom. And here’s what I learned: that set up is FREAKING AMAZING!!! I absolutely love being at home alone! As an autistic person especially - everything is in my control. The lighting, the music, the temperature, the smells! I don’t have a boss, I don’t have to meet KPIs or receive criticism. I get to work with my cats in the room. I cook full meals in the kitchen for breakfast and lunch. I can have a nap in the middle of the day if I need it! I am literally living MY dream! 🥰
💗 Comparison is the thief of joy. Considering what I said above, WHY AM I STILL FEELING SH*TTY ABOUT THE SIZE OF MY BUSINESS?! Why, when I look at other business standing next to towers of orders, or dancing through their warehouse, or working together with their teams, why do I still long for that? I know first hand the downside of those things!
