Brooch art….and sn absolute eye-catcher!

Reminiscent of a sea anemone, waving crystal-studded tentacles are interspersed with deep sapphire blue accent stones and surround a large centre stone. This shade of blue is usually referred to as “ Montana blue”, most likely a reference to the wintry Montana skies. 

This magnificent high quality rhodium plated brooch has absolutely no matches anywhere on the Internet, but is clearly very special. I cannot find the makers name either in searches, which would seem to indicate it was one of the smaller boutique companies or custom made.

The brooch is 6.5 cm in diameter, and in excellent condition for its age with no missing stones and very little discolouration to the clear crystals.

The clasp and connecting rods on this necklace identifies it as Czech and dates it to around the 1950s to 60s…. as do the wonderful vibrant colours, which were so much vogue back then.

End of day glass was the name given yo pieces created by the glassblowers at the end of the work day, when they had various small pieces of glass left over. Rather than waste them, they would combine these together to make eclectic pieces like this necklace. These pieces are now very collectible, and as one would expect, no two pieces can be the same.

The necklace is 70 cm long and each of the beads is approximately 2 cm long.

If ever you want a necklace that would invite comment, this has to be the one!

It has an older smaller screw in barrel clasp typically used in Italy, and the metal tarnish would indicate some age, at least around 20 to 30 years.

The necklace is 42 cm long, and 6 cm wide.

There are no pieces missing, it seems like everything is there and in excellent condition.

Made of lightweight brass and tin, these earrings are SUCH fun!

These jangling pretties are 8 cm high and 4.5 cm wide at their widest. Condition is as shown, just some natural age patina to the metal that doesn’t detract.

There is a whole collecting genre related to these brooches with an astonishing mix of colours, and the term is “fruit salad”. This one is a dazzling mix of bright gemstone colours: Ruby, Emerald, topaz, sapphire …. Stunning contrast, and my photos just can’t really do it justice. The brooch is 5.8 cm long and 4 cm high, and the condition is excellent.

This beautiful fruit salad bracelet from the 19 sixties to seventies speaks volumes of class (in an up market British accent of course!).
All the stones are open backed and hand-set, a sign of quality.

The bracelet is 2.3 cm wide and has a wearable length of up to 20 cm, but could be extended if wished. It’s also in perfect condition.

How unusual is this eye catching beauty?

The beauty of this type of necklace as well is that it can be worn in a variety of ways, either with the clasp down the front as a pendant or as a feature on the side
Multiple strands of freshwater pearls and purple and clear crystals are hand wired together and join together with a custom-made sterling silver clasp… the clasp itself inset with beautiful amethyst baguette crystals.

The necklace is 50 cm long and the clasp is 1.8 cm². As shown in the pics below, it is marked 925 on both sides of the clasp.

~Magnificent! Big BEAU JEWELS Brooch & Clip Earring Set~

Purple and pink perfection!

Isn’t this just the most delightful arrangement of Deep Purple and mauve pink…..fabulous sparkle too! My photos just do not do it justice….And just how often do you see these magnificent brooches in a set with their original earrings?

As is always the case with these pieces, the brooch is not signed as they usually had a paper label, but the riveting and busy layered style is unmistakeable Beau jewels.

The brooch is 6.5 cm in diameter, and the earrings are 2.8 cm high and 2.8 cm wide. All pieces are in seemingly un-worn condition. The only flaw I can find on really close inspection is a very very faint line across part of the top of the centre stone, which you can only see if you tip the brooch against the light and go looking for it.

From the 1975 collection by Sarah Coventry comes this gorgeous pendant, aptly named “Royal Flair”.
A classic regal rococo design is cut out in shining silver tone and surrounds a huge single faceted purple crystal. So elegant, but so very striking.

The pendant is 8 cm high and 5.7 cm across, and the chain is 50 cm long. The pendant is marked on the back as shown.
Both the pendant and the chain are in excellent and seemingly unworn condition.

I bought these back about 10 years ago from the states, bought at auction as part of a a lot of fabulous big statement earrings.
I kept these for ages, fully intending to wear them, but never got around to it so…. Out they go!

These beauties are a studded symphony of jet crystals. Chris crossed by gold metallic ones….. touch eye-catchers!
(and also a great match for the zebra pendant that I have listed from around the same era)

With various eclectic charms dangling of this double curb link gold bracelet, a fabulous arm statement is created…. And doesn’t one just love the fear of charms jangling as one’s arm moves? I know I do!

A fun fact about charm bracelets is that the Babylonians are believed to be the first people to wear charms on charm bracelets from around 700 BC….and the first early charms were made of lapis lazuli, rock crystal, and other semi-precious stones and were often inscribed with small designs and believed to have special powers to ward off the evil eye. Who wouldn’t give their left arm to own one of those beauties?!!

AND…. Speaking about arms….Did you know It is believed that if you wear a charm bracelet on your left arm, it symbolises attracting good luck and wealth? If - on the other hand ( or arm!!) - you wear it on the right, it is believed you are giving away your wealth to other people.

Of course, most of the significance have been lost now, and they have essentially become just items of jewellery ( just like this one), although a wearer might collect special charms as a memory.

The charms are constructed variously of gold tone metal and lucite in the shape of a stylised rose and dead pod.
The bracelet is 22 cm long. The only flaw i can see are a couple of tiny dark spots on the gold baubles, not enough to detract when worn.
