Grafterburners earns Sunlight slot.

Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have turned to rival trainer Kelly Schweida Racing to fill their slot in next month's $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight at the Gold Coast.

The Sydney trainers have secured Grafterburners, an in-form three-year-old c**t who has won his past two starts in Brisbane and who is a leading contender for Saturday's Listed Gold Edition over 1200 metres.

The son of will have to drop back to 1100 metres for the Sunlight on January 10, but it's a distance he won his maiden over at Ipswich last December. He also ran fourth in the Inglis Millennium over the same trip at Randwick in February. He won the QTIS Jewel at the Gold Coast in March as well as running third in the Group 2 Champagne Classic at Eagle Farm in May.

Bott said: "We are delighted to partner with Kelly and Grafterburners' owners for the 2026 Sunlight slot race. He profiles as a strong winning chance for us in a rich race that promises to set up a fun and exciting start to the special week that is the Magic Millions January carnival."
