With the Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show now just over 5 weeks away, it’s time to start thinking about what entries you would like to showcase in the Lapidary Competition Section.

Our displays are a wonderful way to show the community what we do, and every year they help attract new members to our club.

So have a look through your studio, dust off those special pieces, and consider submitting a few items. Whether it’s cabbing, silverwork, or faceting — every entry helps make our section something to be proud of.

Let’s put on a fantastic display of the talent within our club!

The entry forms are available on the lunch table at the club or they can be found in the Show Magazine also available at the club

I have received advice this evening (with the letter attached) that Boral has withdrawn its development application for a quarry at Reedy Creek, in Division 9.

The following advice was provided to me by council officers;

“Late this afternoon, Boral advised that pursuant to section 52 of the Planning Act, they have formally withdrawn their development application for the proposed quarry at Reedy Creek.

As there is no longer a development application, there is now no need for the Deputy Premier to make a decision. The action by Boral has effectively brought this development application to an end.”

Please feel free to ask any questions you would like.

UPDATE at 9am, 8 May 2026:
The state government have made this announcement this morning, confirming the process to remove the KRA has been commenced.

Boral have made this statement, noting they have discussed residential development options on site.

Hi everyone,

Just a gentle reminder that Karen and Rocco from Jewellery Tools by Karen will be at the club rooms tomorrow. 8.45am till 12md

They’ll be bringing along their full range of silver and silver findings, as well as tools and accessories, so it’s a great chance to stock up on supplies.

Feel free to pop in and have a look - open to every-one not just members — you don’t want to miss them!

See you tomorrow,
Deb

Hi everyone,

Just a heads-up that the club will be closed on Monday 26th January for the Australia Day public holiday.
We’ll be back to normal on Thursday.

Also, Rocco and Karen from Jewellery Tools by Karen will be setting up at the club rooms on Thursday 29th January from 8.30am onwards, so please make sure you have your lists ready. They’ll be bringing silver supplies, along with their usual range of tools and accessories.

You don’t have to be a member — we’re opening the doors to anyone needing jewellery supplies, so feel free to spread the word.

See you soon, and cheers!
