A couple of years ago I started obsessively making ‘gingham papers’ with the intention of investigating mark making methods. There’s something about the repetitive nature of it and the opportunity to really play with colour that I found so captivating. This kind of repetition got me thinking about fabrics and women and chatting and ancestry, anyway, it felt very real, but I really didn’t think it would lead to anything. Fast forward a couple of years and this impression of the woven was destined to be come woven! Here’s some screenshots from my camera roll of some of these papers, that have since been turned into bouncy joyous ‘weavils’.
