I’ll be down on the Gold Coast volunteering with Red Frogs for Schoolies, so the workshop will be unattended for a short time.

This 1968 Omega Calibre 752 just had a full overhaul in the workshop.

It’s always rewarding to see how a vintage movement can come back to life with the right care.

After a proper clean and service, the rose-gold finish has brightened right up, and the movement is now oiled, regulated, and ready for many more years on the wrist.

That’s the beauty of these older watches: with the right attention, they’ll keep ticking reliably for decades to come.

Just completed a full overhaul on this vintage Omega Genève, reference 136.070.

Along with a complete strip down, clean, and service of the movement, it also received a brand-new crown and plexi glass. Now it’s back to running smoothly and looking the part again. Always a pleasure working on these classics.

At just 24 years old, Kain Toirkens is one of Australia’s youngest independent watchmakers—and he’s bringing his precision craft back to the town he’s called home since childhood.

Kain, a trade-qualified watchmaker, recently opened Elite Watch Repairs at 44 Maple Street, Cooroy.

“Starting my business here wasn’t something I had always planned,” he says. “But I’m so glad to be back at home. Cooroy holds so many fond memories for me, and when the opportunity came up at this location—just a few doors down from my mum—it felt like fate.”
