Just a small introduction of who I am and what I do. My name is Melanie Regli and I have been making chainmail jewellery going on ten years now. I have quite a range of unique, quality pieces which I believe cover the formal, semi formal and casual jewellery wearer alike. I pride myself on being able to make custom pieces, unique pieces and eye catching pieces that will not be found on all your fr

iends or the displays of mass produced jewellery stores. I only use quality components in my pieces and I stand by their quality. The links I use are full stainless steel, not containing any nickel or copper. This means your piece will not rust, tarnish or turn your skin green. The coloured links I use are either Anodized aluminum or Niobium. The stones I use are exactly as they will be advertised as, and are wired using quality full stainless steel wire. All leather is quality genuine leather and all parrot clasps are full stainless also. Ladies sizes of bracelets are

Something to ponder on.
This is over $200 freaking bucks, sitting in my small dish in my hand.
For 160 pieces, 8 - 10mm, freshwater Pearls.
I guarantee that I will use this up for one piece.
This is just one tiny element of one project.
No time, labor, or other materials and shop costs involved yet.
It costs full time makers THOUSANDS, not hundreds, thousands of dollars every year to operate.
This is a fact. Its not a brag. Because I guarantee every single maker I know shakes their head, takes a stiff drink or reaches for smelling salts every time they order supplies.
So every time you see a piece, made by hand, by an Australian maker, that has even the smallest of simple details like beads or pearls added to it, please appreciate that they paid dearly in both dollars and time to put those details on a piece to make it the best quality piece they could afford.
No, I will not include any imported pieces into that comparison at all or ever! Lots of those are pieces that are cast in one go and throw some stones on them.
Cast pieces are made dozens at a time with one pour.
If stones don't fit in the pre-made cast setting? Well just glue them in and ship em out to the waiting customers. ( You can hear the sarcasm in my typing ) Glueing stones in is a cardinal sin.
There's plenty more I can say about imported pieces but you have all heard this winge from me before.
Just remember.. Times are tight and money is too, but without you all liking, sharing, commenting and purchasing my work, my business would be gone.

These pearls measure between 7-9mm on average, with the largest specimens reaching approximately 20mm.
The Micro Byzantine chainmaille, crafted in an A-line style with a harmonious balance of chain and pearls, perfectly complements this exquisite piece. A bespoke wire detail adorns the central pendant, imbuing it with a singular character akin to a fingerprint.

Today's creation was inspired by the earthy textures of W.A. Boulder Chrysoprase.
I carefully crafted the roots, trunk, and branching canopies from 316L stainless steel, aiming to replicate nature's perfection.
The accompanying necklace features a graduating Mobius weave design, crafted from the same 316L stainless steel, with a total length of 50cms, ensuring durability and resistance to rust and tarnish.
This piece is a singular work of art, as the natural elements used make replication impossible.

Crystal Valley is a highly regarded, specific locality within the renowned Mintabie opal field in South Australia. Mintabie opals are celebrated worldwide for their exceptional brilliance and intense play-of-colour.
Crystal opals sourced from the "Crystal Valley" sub-field are known for their transparency and bright, vibrant color flashes. Opals from this exact pocket often command high premiums due to their rarity and beauty.
Because the area is located on Aboriginal freehold land, unauthorized public access is not allowed. Access strictly requires a specialized permit from the APY, and only authorized opal miners with appropriate mining permits are allowed to prospect and mine
Since physical access to the fields is highly restricted, most enthusiasts and collectors purchase Crystal Valley opals from reputable Australian jewellers.
Mineshaft: Frequently carries authentic Crystal Valley rough specimens and cut, solid opals.
I purchased this stone from Peter Blythe, the owner and operator of Mineshaft, in 2023. Not quite knowing what I wanted to do with it, I set it aside until inspiration hit.
I have securely wired this unique Opal using 316L stainless steel wire.
The necklace I have chosen to create for this piece, is a Box, or serpentine, weave. Full stainless steel links throughout, 48cms total length.
Now, to get to the fun part.
This Opal is magic.
Measuring 45mm x 22mm x 10mm
This weighs 10.83g which equates to a jaw dropping 54.15ct.
It has flashes of blue, purple and the occasional green.
With only a small shelf of bed stone, the weight of this piece is almost entirely Opal.
This piece is one I will never be able to replicate, and due to the rarity of the stone, will only increase in value.
