Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of meeting Ken Bruggemann, President of the Chinchilla Lapidary Club, to hand over one of our pre-loved 8” 6-wheel Diamond Pacific “Titan” cabbing machines.

Ken and his wife Karen were incredibly warm and welcoming. It was a real treat to view Ken’s remarkable collection of petrified wood and some truly stunning Boulder opals.

We’re thrilled to see this machine find a new home with such passionate lapidary enthusiasts, and we hope the club enjoys many years of creativity and craftsmanship with it.

🔥 Big Thanks for Keeping Us Toasty This Winter and Cool Next Summer! ❄️

The Caloundra Lapidary Club is delighted to announce the completion of our Museum Air Conditioner Project—made possible by the generous support of the Sunshine Coast Council’s Major Grants Program!
With a powerful 9.5kW split system air conditioner and a 25-amp electrical circuit now installed, our museum is a warm and welcoming space to enjoy displays of fossils, rocks, mineral specimens, and megafauna bones—all year round.
A heartfelt thank you to Damien Natho from EPM Electrical Pty Ltd for the smooth, professional installation. Thanks to Damien, the museum is perfectly toasty this winter!
This upgrade has made a real difference for our visitors—whether you’re a student, local enthusiast, or international guest. It’s also a huge win for our faceting class, who now work in comfort while crafting stunning gems.
While our cabbing and silversmithing workshops still brave the cool sheds, we’re thrilled to offer a warm, inviting museum space to learn, explore, and connect.

Wow, what an incredibly successful event! I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us this year and helped make it as fantastic as ever. A special shoutout to our loyal vendors for bringing such amazing wares and backing us for another year. To all our dedicated club members who volunteered their time throughout the day—thank you for your hard work and enthusiasm.

A huge thank you to Craig Baynham of Combined Jewellery Services for stepping in to save the day and filling our lunchroom with your top-notch tools and equipment. I also want to express my deep gratitude to Les Hathaway and Anne Bradford from QLACCA for your unwavering support—it means the world to us. And finally, a big thank you to the wonderful members of the Bribie Island Gem & Fossicking Club who showed up to support us, even with your own show running at the same time.

Our faceting room upgrades are complete and it is now ready for students of the faceting class bright and early tomorrow morning. This is all thanks to a grant we received from Sunshine Coast Council. Also, a big thanks to Tim and John for all your help.

Tickets are priced at $5 each, or you can purchase a book of 20 tickets for $80. Payments can be made in cash at the club or by card over the phone on 0406677770 (a 1.6% card fee applies).
