Marita Joy Fine Jewellery Hand made fine jewellery designed and made by award winning jeweller Marita Bilsby. Design consultations by appointment

Having completed my apprenticeship in 2011, I took a break to enjoy my daughter, then knew my calling was to continue making and creating jewellery. I specialise in remodelling your precious and treasured old gold, diamonds and other stones if possible and creating a new piece. I am available to do in-home consultations to discuss your designs, and also to quote for any repairs or restorations you

may require. I have access to any kind of precious gem and diamonds that you may desire, as well as quality gold and silver chains from Australian stockists. Please don't hesitate to call for all your professional jewellery needs, and know that when I make or repair a piece of your jewellery, you will have a lifetime guarantee on work that I undertake.

Been working on this platinum, white and Argyle pink diamond number this week, coming together slowly...😍

My workshop hours have been limited as carpark works are happening by my workshop entrance - next week will see the same, and I'll be in touch with everyone who has appointments booked to change location if needed.

Back to the bench, I've got pretties to make for you!

Delivered just in time for the birthday girl wrapping up her month of celebrating - a beautiful natural Colombian emerald, directly from the family mine through their Perth based business.

Having gorgeous, ethical stones available to you is something I'm so proud to offer.

Shay used existing gold and a chosen emerald for her dream May birthday pinkie ring.

Deep breaths for me with the bezel setting of my first natural emerald, very happy with how stunning the combo of yellow gold and emerald green came together πŸ’šπŸ˜

Angelica and Ben joined me in April for a wedding ring workshop, and I was to finish their rings with engraving and stone setting for Angelica's fitted wedder.

Her band gives stunning Elsa vibes with the curved engraving, gosh it was fun to do 😍

Their bands were made using existing 18ct gold converted to 14ct, to match Angelica's engagement ring. Ben chose a timeless bevelled edge band, with matt finish and polished bevels.

When I delivered them yesterday, the discussion went straight to how would they wait til November to wear them...it was difficult to convince Angelica she had to put it away til then.

The mutual joy these two pieces brought to my client and myself spilled over today when I finally got to give them to her.

I was asked to create a repeating feather pattern, a very special symbol for her. I've been exploring engraving techniques, and this was the perfect project to really make it happen.

The bangle was made from silver credited from refined pieces, and her ring from a combination of fine gold credits made in to 18ct white gold, and some existing 18ct yellow that was very sentimental to keep, and her diamonds. This did make the new white gold a bit more yellow, but my client didn't mind because it was so meaningful to her.

So much fun, such a beautiful outcome, especially when it was so well received πŸ’•

Wedding day delights....πŸ’•

Liam and Ira said 'I do' over the weekend - I made Ira's engagement ring late last year, so making a fitted wedder that sparkles was absolutely necessary.

Set with aquamarine and diamonds, plus a significant number engraved, we replicated the wave in Liam's ring, set with family diamonds and green tourmaline.

Many love wishes sent your way, may this be the beginning of many years of happiness and memory making together πŸ’–

A very special restoration of inherited jewellery ✨️

Cate received her grandmother's pieces, and they were in need of an overhaul back to their original beauty.

The engagement ring had a new shank, retip with double claws, and new shoulder accents set with stones, and shields with beading pattern - remade as it was originally.

The ornate wedder needed resizing, and re-engraving of the repeating pattern. The trick was to make a sizing piece that was a whole section and blending it in seamlessly.

Last but not least, the eternity ring had worn white sapphires in it, so all were replaced to look brand new πŸ’–

A little change up for Kristy....✨️

Her engagement ring 6 claw setting had worn away, and she wanted a bezel setting instead. The catch was she also wanted her wedder to fit under the bezel setting, but also be altered to a 3 stone bezel trilogy ring.

Solution found - a concave basket under the bezel, with the settings for her new ring just the right height to snuggle underneath.

We used some gold from an inherited ring, plus remodelling her existing wedder. The only change to her engagement ring was a change of setting.

Kristy also refined other old gold to receive a credit towards her creation, a service I offer to anyone having a piece made with me. This allowed her to offset the cost of making - such a savvy way to have something new, recycle your old gold and reuse it in my workshop if possible, and save yourself $$$

This is my happy place, one of creation and concentration - blocking out the outside noise and craziness. I get lost in what I am doing sometimes, I'm extra good at putting alarms on so that I stop myself and bring myself back to reality.

I'm so grateful to be trusted to create pieces that start off as concepts and grow in to fully fledged pieces of jewellery with a little (sometimes a lot) time and patience.

I look forward to doing more engraved pieces and growing my skills, I'm so inspired by other engravers and jewellers who blow my mind with what they create.

A belated Happy Mother's Day πŸ’– it happened to be a certain person's birthday as well so the day got away from me (hence a daggy photo in our gardening clothes to commemorate the day instead of the fancy brunch dress πŸ˜‚)

I wanted to mention my mum - a huge support personally and creatively throughout my life - who I admire and draw so much inspiration from in all aspects. I was able to make her a hinged ring a few years ago as her fingers started to feel the effects of arthritis, and I see those hands and all they created and still create - feeling lucky I get to do the same.

There's been some wonderful ladies in my world who have passed way too soon lately, so yesterday their families were in my thoughts as they wished they had their partners, mums and daughters with them still. I send love to all you wishing the same - I think of grief this way, as it's an inescapable part of life - it shows that you loved and are loved.

My girl made me my favourite flower made out of pipe cleaners so it never dies - any guesses?? Time I think to make myself an actual pond and grow some.

May you cherish those you have, and keep the love alive you are lucky enough to have experienced ❀️

A precious restoration for Felicia of her mum's ring, just in time for Mother's Day πŸ’•

We reused the existing shank plus a another ring, to make a stronger new knife edge shank in a new size, ready for many more years of wear πŸ’–
