Dean Walker Designs Jewellery store located in beautiful Tasmania. We specialise in handmaking one-of-a-kind jewellery. Dean Walker Designs opened in 2007.

We have three Manufacturing Jewellers on site specialising in designing, remodelling and repairing. We have an extensive range of beautiful jewellery on display for customers to choose from. Dean has been working in the Jewellery business for over 20 years, and in 2006 gained the prestigious title of ‘Australian Jeweller of the Year 2006-2007’. Over the years Dean has also entered and won many oth

er awards. We pride ourselves in displaying as much Tasmanian and Australian made jewellery and artworks as possible. Featuring local artisans such as glass artists (specialising in jewellery items) Mary Lewis and Carmen Reuter, artists Beverly Skurulis, O'Bie and Evelyn Antonysen. Glass works (functional and sculptural) by Anne Dunham, as well as jewellery collections by Dean Walker, Meg Brauer and Melanie Honor Clarke. Dean Walker Designs is a bright, open and inviting space, offering an escape from the day to day stresses life puts upon us all at times. This beautifully understated 9ct yellow gold mabe pearl and turquoise pendant and earring set was custom designed and hand fabricated here at DWD a few months ago.

Our clients came to us with several treasured heirloom pieces that had been passed down through generations, hoping to transform them into jewellery they would truly enjoy wearing and cherish for years to come.

This stunning set is one of three bespoke creations crafted from their original jewellery, and the result speaks for itself - elegant, timeless, and absolutely beautiful.

These are just a handful of the opals and custom designed pieces we’ve collected and hand fabricated over the years, featuring stunning stones sourced from our Coober Pedy opal miner, Patrick, and his wife Bridgette, who expertly cuts and polishes each opal herself.

We always look forward to their visits, often spending hours admiring and sorting through their incredible collection of gems.

Dean has handmade a few pieces over the last few years using raw Australian gold nuggets, with the occasional addition of one of our stunning natural Australian opals. No casting, no thinning, no polishing away the history. These are genuine pieces of Australia - straight from the earth, preserved exactly as nature created them.
