Vienna based, English born Jewellery designer. Hand made contemporary and custom jewellery by Katie Gruber. Imperfections captivate me.

During my training to be a Goldsmith, every cut, every edge, every measurement had to be nothing less than perfect. Later I fought against that concept and consequently created some of my favourite pieces. I create by chance; my pieces happen occasionally through accidents, frequently by trial and error as well as by experimenting and directly working with a material, which inspires me. The pieces

sometimes decide themselves what they will become… The imperfections reflect utmost beauty and are completely unique to each piece. They are absorbed and become the most interesting part of the piece. Nothing is perfect in life, and I like that. Imperfections make more of a statement than perfection does. During the creation of a piece, the decision as to which direction I take is often subconscious. I like to see and experience the different stages of development during the creative process. My ideas come from memories, past and present, I let them flow, my pieces tell stories from different times of my life.

Designing personal rings and jewellery together with our customers has slowly become one of the biggest parts of what we do and honestly, we love it more and more with every piece.

Some people come to us with a very clear vision, others just with a feeling, a story, a loose idea, or a stone they’ve been holding onto for years. Our favourite part is listening, exploring ideas together, and slowly turning them into something real and deeply personal.

This reel shows just a small selection of the many rings we’ve had the privilege to create recently. All completely different because the people behind them are different too.

Some rings are made to stand alone and some are made to complete the story 🩷

This custom mémoire ring was created to fit perfectly alongside an existing favourite, designed to slot seamlessly into the customer’s original baguette diamond ring.
We chose emerald-cut diamonds with slightly tapered corners, which allowed us to create this one-of-a-kind recessed design.

The result is a timeless piece with 15 sparkling stones, made to feel like it had always belonged there.

Sometimes the best pieces aren’t entirely new. They’re the ones that make what you already love, feel even more complete. ♾️

Who says men can’t wear gemstones?

This ring was made to order for a customer who had a clear vision: a bold yellow gold ring with a plateau top, set with a beautiful amber-coloured sapphire.

Jewellery should reflect the person wearing it and we love turning ideas like this into reality ✨
