A Rolex Pre-Daytona Chronograph from 1958
Before things became larger, louder, and more recognisable, Rolex made beautiful chronographs like this.
This reference 6234 keeps everything contained within the dial itself — tachymeter, telemeter, registers — giving the watch a very clean and balanced look without the need for an external bezel. Paired with the pump pushers on the side and 36mm Oyster case, it has a far more restrained feel than the Daytona references that followed in the later generations.
This example remains in very good condition overall, with a strong case and a dial that has aged evenly over time. The printing remains crisp, the registers are well preserved, and the overall configuration still feels sharp throughout.
The kind of watch that reminds us how good early Rolex chronographs really were.
