Flower halo for the last of the summer days (I hope - feeling the southern hemisphere equivalent of February in England!). The goldenrod is flowering which for me at least brings good tidings of cooler evenings.

Red flowers on red tulle give this halo a dreamy, ethereal look. This one is available to purchase.
Good news re tarriffs for SA, so I will be opening an Etsy store over the coming weeks to make my wares available again across the pond.

🩷yikes! I feel a bit like Rip van Winkle :) Hello everyone🌸
It is taking me time to get back to Rock and Folly. I wasn't able to reopen my etsy shop in SA, because, rules. The plan is to reopen another, and then to see if it will survive 30% US tarriffs for South Africa (that was a bit of a shocker) and hellishly high shipping fees. The other is to convert the whole of SA into a hat-crazed nation, wish me luck😆
In the mean time, they have started building our house, or rather, dug holes, which has now come to a standstill. Building in SA is a rather challenging experience!

For the moment, for my SA friends I've opened a Yaga shop with some things that I brought with me and also some flower crowns I recently made.

The headpiece in the picture is one I made to wear to an art shindig before Christmas - recycled denim and a coke bottle turned into a flower. I just love putting trash on my head🤪

Mushroom forager hat I made for my mushroom foraging better half (last photo is of the mushies the hat foraged about 2 week ago). It's decorated with amethyst and a piece of the antler reishi that he cultivated. But how fab is that lining fabric💕🌸

Hello from the southern hemisphere! 🌍
We've been settling into our new surroundings, getting over a lurgy, and catching up with family. No time yet for hatting but I'm missing it so much! Here are some pics of a hat I finished for a friend before leaving the UK, and the lining is a nod to one of our fave shadow daddies🖤🦇

Klaas's hat🎩

🌲32 (!!!) years ago a friend and I were hitchhiking and got a lift with 2 boys from the local forestry college who became friends. Klaas had a very basic forestry hat which was essentially a felt hood, and given my penchant for headwear I naturally ended up with his hat.
🌲I hoard, and it made its way over to the UK - I found it again whilst clearing things for our upcoming move back to SA. Instead of getting binned it morphed into an actual hat, and I am super annoyed I didnt take a before photo. It was a rather rough wool felt but after washing, shaping, sanding, painting, burning, brushing and experimenting with pyrography, my very own bushhat was born.
🌲To me, it's a perfect blend of SA forest (forestry hood, porcupine quill) and UK woodland (found Haldon feather, aventurine for the Devon fae, woodland fabric) and I am so excited for the Garden Route foraging adventures and the trees we'll meet💚

Hello me hearties💕 I have some news! After living in the UK for 16 years we have made the decision to relocate back to South Africa at the end of March. This means Rock And Folly will close until further notice, something that makes me incredibly sad. I would love to continue once we are settled back in SA but there will be loads to work out in the meantime so I'm just not sure what the future will hold.

So! I will close my online shop at the beginning of March. As I am getting rid of everything before we go, I would also really like to get rid of my current stock. If there is anything you would like in my shop, feel free to DM me if you'd like to make me an offer. Also, I still have spiky beads so if you are a business and you are interested in stocking some spiky headbands get in touch🌸

In the meantime I will list some final headpieces as I'm clearing out💕
