My son, Evan Michael and I spent the evening on a Audubon Sunset Canoe Tour 🌅 at Scarborough Marsh, paddling through the marsh 🛶 as the sun dipped below the horizon while seabirds soared all around us.

It was one of those perfect Maine summer evenings, peaceful, beautiful, and made even sweeter with ice cream afterward. 🍨❤️

So grateful for simple moments like these!

I don’t usually review galleries, but after visiting Blue Raven Gallery in Rockland today, I was completely captivated.

While Rockland has many wonderful galleries, Blue Raven stands out as something truly special. The collection felt fresh and engaging, and I found myself stopping often to take a closer look.

What impressed me just as much as the art was the space itself. Before becoming an art gallery, Blue Raven was a historic 1920s bank, and the building retains some of its original architectural features. Two original bank vaults are still there and now display artwork, creating a unique setting that made me enjoy exploring the gallery as much as viewing the art.

I especially loved the rooftop sculpture deck. The top floor opens onto an outdoor space filled with sculptures nestled among plants, flowers, and trees. It is an unexpected and inspiring extension of the gallery that makes the visit even more special.

If you are exploring Rockland’s galleries, Blue Raven is a destination not to be missed. It is a beautiful reminder that art is not only about what hangs on the walls, but also about the space that surrounds it.

I took a Audubon Puffin Tour this morning out of Boothbay. Located off the coast of Maine, Eastern Egg Rock was once home to thousands of Atlantic puffins before they disappeared from the island in the late 1800s because of hunting for food, feathers and eggs.

Thanks to a groundbreaking conservation effort led by ornithologist Stephen Kress, puffins returned to nest there in the 1980s, making Eastern Egg Rock one of the world’s great wildlife restoration success stories. Read about remarkable story on the Audubon website: https://www.audubon.org/seabird-institute

Today, visitors can spot these colorful seabirds nesting among the rocky shores each summer, a reminder that with patience, dedication, and a little hope, nature can make an incredible comeback.

🐧 I saw around 8-10 puffins mostly in the water. I have some great Nikon binoculars (thank you, John and Hallie) that were necessary for me to ‘see’ them. In the photos (6,7,8) they are the specs in the water but were quite clear with the binoculars.

Eastern Egg Rock is home to around 200 pairs of Puffins. A bit further out and accessed from Port Clyde, Matinicus Rock beyond Monhegan Island is a much larger breeding ground for Atlantic Puffins (around 700).

It was a beautiful day ☀️and I got to cross this off my bucket list!

Gorgeous day for a walk around the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Blue skies, flowers in bloom, butterflies & bees 🐝 couldn’t ask for more!

“Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable.”

Daniel Minter’s inspiring sculpture in the second photo celebrates connection, community, and the strength we find in one another. Beautiful and inspiring in this outdoor space. Check it out when you visit the gardens. Listen to the story behind it via Indigo Arts Alliance website
