Sass Rogando Sasot released a statement questioning the consistency of critics who describe former president Rody Duterte’s war on drugs as a crime against humanity. She asked why those same voices do not apply the label to anti-drug operations in the United States, Brazil, and Mexico, which she referenced in her remarks.
Sasot said the criticism is driven by personal and political motives. She stated, “Truth is you are just a Diehard Duterte Hater, calling yourself a representative of ‘humanity’ when in fact you are only representing yourself, your politics, your own group.” She added, “You don’t want to save humanity from crimes against it, you just want to have a shot at power by eliminating your political enemies, using ‘humanity’ as the fig leaf of your ambitions.”
