Here’s one rule that is so irritating and inescapable . No one speaks of it in silversmithing classes. You carefully craft a component that will need to be soldered onto a larger component. That smaller component will invariably disappear into some black void and you will spend time and psycho energy uselessly searching. Now, the cruel irony is that once you give up the search and create yet another component to replace the feckless one that has disappeared, the lost component will reappear. With no apology or shame.
Save yourself the time and aggravation. Make the replacement component as soon as possible. I say this slightly tongue in cheek but seriously, I searched every where in my workshop.
