We’ve decided to move forward with changing our organization name. As a 501(c)(3) organization we wanted to leave our options open, but having been a licensed rehabiltator for 5 years now, we have experienced trying to do it all and have learned that we will do our best continuing to follow our passion and focusing on turtles. By specializing we can continue expanding our knowledge, work more efficiently, improve set-ups, and ultimately have the greatest impact on a group of animals in desperate need of help. Turtle populations are on the decline and rely on their long lives to keep the population going. If we can give them a second chance to live many more years in the wild we can also have an impact from a conservation standpoint, and that means a lot to us.
It all started with an injured snapping turtle long ago, and being that snapping turtles have an undeserved bad reputation it made sense for us to make our name positive on their behalf in our journey to debunk misconceptions. We’ll also continue to rehabilitate all species of turtles, but snapping turtles hold a special place in our heart. 💚
We’ve changed our name with the state, but are awaiting confirmation from the irs before we change the name on our page. For now enjoy our new logo made from a painting we created of a “happy snapper”.
