Lovely pair of Luckenbooth earrings by Iona silversmith John Hart.

The Luckenbooth is a traditional Scottish heart shaped piece of jewellery with the crown of Mary Queen of Scots above. The design originates in the 16th century. It has been traditionally given as a token of love or betrothal or worn to protect against evil spirits. The name comes from the small shops (or lockable booths) where the jewellery was sold on Edinburgh's Royal Mile.

New in today, beautiful Aesthetic Movement locket with a bird in foliage design. What's really interesting about this is the maker (well, it is if you're a jewellery nerd anyway!). It's marked TLM which I am sure is familiar to a lot of people but this was made by Thomas London Mott, the father of Thomas L Mott of butterfly wing fame!

A beautiful Victorian pendant, dating from circa 1870s, with a porcelain plaque inside a rolled gold mount. The subject is really sweet and is a less common one, An absolutely charming piece in typical romanticised style.

Welcome to Spangles and Fandangles

Hi, I’m Katy Leitch, the Spangles and Fandangles store owner, it’s lovely to meet you.

Spangles and Fandangles combines two of my greatest passions – beautiful old objects and creating unique pieces crafted with my own hands. The story begins when I began to dip my toe into the world of antique trading – I was buying collections of jewellery but often there were broken pieces that were just too beautiful to throw away. So I began thinking about ways to recycle these lovely objects into new pieces.

On my website you’ll find two types of things – beautiful, hand-selected antique and vintage jewellery, and reloved, handmade treasures upcycled from broken or unloved pieces.

I also trade on ebay under username katef75 where I list my own items and also offer pieces as a reseller. I have new listings every week so please do add me as a favourite seller.
