One painting finished. Another waiting. Three more started.

Apparently, I like having options!

Yesterday, I finished The Sweetness of Being and planned to spend some time with my other bear. But I wasn’t quite finding my way into it.

I wanted to give him the freedom to become something different from the bear I’d just finished. Maybe a little breathing room would help us both.

So I played with color, started a hummingbird and flower, then two elk paintings. One uses a square canvas with abstract layers that had been waiting around for months.

You’ll also see me pressing plastic wrap into wet paint, experimenting with crinkled patterns that suggested grasses.

These are the early stages: backgrounds, outlines, texture, and plenty still to discover.

I enjoy sharing this part because so much can change between these beginnings and the finished painting.

Which one are you curious to see develop?

A quiet connection can mean so much.

In the Stillness Between holds that feeling for me: the woman beside the horse, their forms blending together, almost as though they’re one.

It brings to mind those moments with an animal or someone we love when we feel understood and connected without saying anything.

Here it is in a few imagined interiors. A sunlit nook, a restful bedroom, a comfortable sitting room—places where someone might pause and find their own meaning in the painting.

What would it bring to your space?

A little glimpse of life away from the easel. 🌿

Yesterday, I took a few minutes to sit in my backyard, enjoy the sunshine, listen to the waterfall, and notice the flowers and grapevines.

I love creating things that bring beauty and peace. It felt good to take a little time to enjoy those things myself.

The words accompanying the music in this video are from my dad’s poem about backyards and their hidden treasures—a personal touch that makes this especially meaningful to me.

Sharing a little breathing room with you today. ❤️

Do you have a favorite place to sit and simply be?

An almost unBEARable day… made a little sweeter by some time at the easel. 🐻

Yesterday brought plenty of distractions and a mind pulled in too many directions. But I got to spend part of the day working on this fellow.

I added color, more strokes of fur, and some honeycombs back into the painting. He’s still a work in progress, but he’s getting closer.

There’s something about his relaxed pose and gentle expression that keeps reminding me to exhale and just breathe.

That’s a feeling I hope carries through the finished painting—and eventually into the space where he finds a home.

For now, here’s a glimpse of him and the studio where he’s coming together.

Does he make you feel like taking a little breather, too?

Where would Quiet Radiance feel most at home?

A warm, neutral room.
A deep navy wall.
Or a textured gray setting.

Each brings something different forward—the vivid blues, the golden light, or the layers and patterns within the painting.

Which would you choose for your home or a space you’re designing?

A horse meets an “iron horse.”

My love of horses and my husband’s love of motorcycles and mechanical things came together in Gears of Vitality.

I wanted to give this horse a more masculine feel while still enjoying the color, layers, and patterns I love to paint.

Here’s a look at his progression—from an abstract beginning to the gears, flowing white mane, and blue eye of the finished painting.

Apparently this little bear needed some honey. 🍯🐻

Yesterday at the studio, I lightened his fur, worked some purples and blues into the log, added gold glazing, and let a few drips happen.

Then I tried a honeycomb stencil. Because… bear. Honey. It made me smile. 😂

I’m still figuring out where this painting is going, but I had fun trying things and seeing what happened. The log and the area beneath him are giving me a little more direction now.

Still a work in progress. Still playing!
