Driving New Hampshire Route 302 through Crawford Notch drops you right into some of the White Mountains’ wildest scenery. This 30-mile stretch runs between Bartlett, New Hampshire and Twin Mountain, New Hampshire, following a narrow mountain pass with steep rock walls rising on both sides. You’ll pass right through Crawford Notch State Park, where waterfalls and cliffs sit just steps from the road.Quick stops like Silver Cascade and Flume Cascade are right off the highway, while short hikes lead to Ripley Falls and Arethusa Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in the state at about 160 feet. You’ll also pass the Willey House Site, where an 1826 landslide wiped out a family but oddly spared the house itself. The road follows the S**o River, with plenty of pull-offs, trailheads, and overlooks. In fall, the colors fill the whole notch, but it’s a great drive any time of year.
