Current desk situation 😅
I’m working on a new piece and, for once, it is not trying to be shiny. Any guesses what might be growing on my pillow from these colours?

I am leaving it here for you, hoping you may find a little calm in these green threads, just as I did. 🌿☘️🌱

What is passion to me?

Passion is anything that makes you forget the world around you. It is when time disappears, when you forget to eat, when tiredness does not matter, because your whole mind and heart are inside that one thing.

It is something you can explore endlessly without getting bored. Something you think about even when you are not doing it. Something you could talk about for hours, because every detail feels exciting.

For me, that is lacemaking. ❤️

And what’s your passion? ☺️

Lacemaking is a lifetime of learning
..and a psychological journey between patience, doubt, discipline and trust.

Sometimes I catch myself staying close to the patterns, grounds and threads I already know. There is comfort in what is familiar. I know how these materials behave, I know where the risks are, and I know that the result will probably work. Trying something new asks for a different kind of courage. It means accepting that the time, energy and hope invested may not bring the result I imagined.

A thread may look beautiful, glamorous and full of promise, but once the bobbins are wound, it can turn out to be too fragile to work with. A pattern may appear perfectly clear in my mind, but when I try to bring it into reality, it resists me. The idea and the material do not always meet in the way I expected.

This is part of being an artist. Experimenting always carries the possibility of disappointment. What is harder, though, is not the technical failure itself. It is what begins to happen inside after the second, third or fourth attempt. When the pattern still does not work, when the colours feel wrong, when the concept loses its shape, the problem slowly stops feeling external. It starts to feel personal.

You begin to question not only the work, but yourself.

Am I good enough to make this? Do I have enough skill? Enough imagination? Enough patience? At some point, the doubt can become louder than the artwork. It can take up more space than the piece itself.

But I am learning that doubt is not proof that I cannot do it. Doubt is often the place where growth is happening before I can see it. It is the uncomfortable space between what I already know and what I am trying to become capable of.

So I continue. Not because I never doubt myself, but because I do. I continue because each failed attempt teaches my hands, my eyes and my mind something new. I continue because the moments of uncertainty are not outside the creative process. They are part of it.

They become part of the next piece. ❤️

Purple usually represents creativity, mystery, spirituality, wisdom and imagination.

But Purple has never been an easy colour for me. It is not my favourite, and for me it carries emotional weight, with a quiet kind of sadness hidden inside it. But as long as we avoid something, we never give ourselves the chance to understand it.

So, for my next project, which will become part of my upcoming exhibition, I want to spend some time with purple. I want to sit with it, listen to it, explore what it means to me, and finally give it my own shape. 💜

Hi everyone ☀️
I’m hoping someone may be able to help. I’m looking for a supplier of silver/nickel thread suitable for lacemaking.
I have this spool from my mum, but I’d love to get a few more in different sizes. Does anyone know where I could find something similar?
Thank you so much for any suggestions.🧡
