Arden Rose Artworks Arden Rose - Artist/Designer
Beautifully unique art & jewelry I combine methods of hammering, soldering, weaving, pulling paper and painting or drawing.

Presently, my working mediums are sculptural paper, combined with metal. - To that foundation, I add objects with provenance, such as a person’s diary, watch or tools, or natural ephemera such as porcupine quills, oyster shells, or semi-precious gem stones. I explore the contradictions and paradoxes of life in my life-size dresses, often by contrasting materials such as barbed wire with crystal or

nails with pearls. My artistic process is often a mystery to me. At times, I begin with a sketched idea, then experiment and play until, hopefully, something beautiful, or whimsical or enigmatic emerges. Sometimes the muse takes over, and the final art piece is remote from the original idea. This hard-core experimental approach to art-making results in many mistakes and unflattering pieces. But, the successful pieces reward in art that is fresh and authentic.

A small sculpture for your hand! I took an intuitive approach when sculpting this ring (I’m not typically a planner), having no idea of the stone to go inside or the type of patina I would use. I like how the antiqued warm bronze contrasts with the cool luminous blue Apatite stone. Size 6.5. Presently available only on my website, www.ardenrosedesign.com or in my Etsy shop.

I’m a Colorado girl, but my vacation flirtations with the sea influenced this ring with abstracted coral forms. The living blue-green patina shifts color with the light and there are subtle changes over time as you wear the ring. It’s sculpturally daring, without being loud. Available on my website at www.ardenrosedesign.com

I hand-carved the pendant ball in foam, had it cast in bronze, added patina and sealed it, and gently inserted the red mohair for a colorful contrast to the turquoise patina. I learned the foam casting, patina, and mohair techniques from Lorenzo Pepe. Check him out on Instagram

Sculpting in foam, allows me to be more volume-metric, and more gender-neutral. I created this ring to express another part of myself - the part that owns a chainsaw and rides long-haul bike-packing, yet is still a femme. Presently, available only on my website www.ardenrosedesign.com and on Etsy

I am just learning how to sculpt in foam. It is so much fun! The mini-sculptures are then cast in bronze. This is my first ring completed. Scroll through the photos to see the process. Presently available only on my website, www.ardenrosedesign.com and Etsy.

“Desert Night” Earrings. I love the Southwest desert at night - the coolness, getting lost in the Milky Way, the silhouettes of Saguaro Cacti . . . The gorgeous Parrel Agates from Mexico remind me of those nights. You will double-take at the backs of these earrings. Wear them with your cowgirl hat. Available at True North Art Gallery and on my website: www.ArdenRoseDesign.com

“Moss in Snow” Earrings in Sterling silver. These earrings feature a deep green moss captured in white agate – an echo of the warm winter that we are having in Colorado. Green Yarrow leaves and mint peer tentatively through the meager snowfall. My gardens ask, “Is it Spring yet?“ “No, it is only January. Go to sleep,“ I urge. Available at True North Art Gallery & on my website www.ardenrosedesign.com

I have a special love for Japanese wood block prints and watercolors - I collect books on them. Their simplicity and beauty I attempted to replicate in these cherry blossom earrings. I cast twigs from my crabapple tree in sterling silver, sawed out flowers and added touches of pink in cherry quartz and tourmaline. Available at True North Art Gallery and on my website at, www.ardenrosedesign.com
