Margie Michel designs nautical themed seashell mirrors, frames, home accessories and shell jewelry. During her 20s and 30s, she spent time building a successful career in Retail management. When her father became ill with Parkinson’s, she realized how fleeting life can be. As she watched her dad fight the disease, Margie made the decision to change her life. Growing up by the sea, she felt an urge
ncy to return to her hometown of Wilmington where she began to flex her artistic muscles again. As a child she and her father spent hours on the water either sailing or enjoying the peace that only the beach can bring. When her father passed away in January of 2012, she worked to honor his memory and to help other families dealing with Parkinson’s. Carolina Shell Designs was born. Margie sees her efforts as an opportunity to honor her father and to help stem the tide of this tragic disease. Each piece is lovingly created and developed with the customer in mind and a portion of her proceeds will go toward Parkinson's research.
