Crape myrtle seed pods are the fruit of the crape myrtle tree, developing after the flowers have bloomed and faded. They are not flower buds and will not bloom. Crape myrtle seed pods develop after the tree’s flowers have finished blooming. These pods are not flower buds and will not open into flowers. They are the fruit of the tree, containing seeds. The seed pods have a unique appearance, with a crown-like structure at the base, which distinguishes them from flower buds. While some people may choose to remove the seed pods for aesthetic reasons, it is not necessary for the health of the tree. Removing them may encourage more growth and blooms, but crape myrtles naturally bloom well in late summer. The seed pods can remain on the tree and add visual interest, especially during the winter months.
