Durable metals such as platinum and high-karat gold provide strength, alloys are added to gold to make it harder and more scratch resistant.

Gold plated mass produced jewelry frequently contains cadmium. A substitute for higher quality alloys to add weight and shine. Acting as a coating for fashion jewelry.

Cadmium is considered a toxic, heavy metal and a suspected carcinogen. Often found in the white metal base beneath the gold plating.

High-quality plating uses nickel free and cadmium free metals like brass ,copper, and sterling as a base.

For safety avoid extremely cheap gold plated items or invest in gold!

Diamonds are formed under tremendous heat and pressure and mined around the world.

Gathered in India’s rivers and streams and traded as early as the 4th Century BC.

When India’s supply began to decline in the 1700’s Brazil emerged as an important source dominating the market for more than 150 years.

In the 1960s, the Soviet Union opened its first major Diamond Mine.

The Argyle mine known for its Pink Diamonds in Australia opens in 1983.

Commercial Diamond mining began in Canada in the 1990’s, while mining had already begun as early as the 1960s in this area.

Russia is now a top producer by both volume and value. 💎

By the early 2000’s South Africa was joined by other African nations as a major producer of rough Diamonds.

Botswana is a Diamond hub where approximately 40% of all rough Diamonds are sorted and valued.

Many countries, particularly Africa, heavily depend on the export of raw minerals, like Diamonds and other Gemstones as a primary source of economic revenue.

This reliance on these exports makes these nations vulnerable to global market fluctuation, such as the influx of Lab Grown Diamonds. 💎💍
