Plant Science is learning about soil science! 🌱

Student made “dirt” cups today, using a variety of ingredients to represent the different horizons in the soil profile.

O Horizon (Organic material) - Sprinkles

Organisms- Gummy worms

A Horizon (Topsoil) -Chocolate pudding

E Horizon (Zone of Elluvation) - Vanilla pudding

B Horizon (Subsoil or Zone of Accumulation)- Butterscotch pudding

C Horizon (Parent Material) - Toffee/Chocolate Chips/Marshmallows

R Horizon (Bedrock)- Cookies

Today was a successful day for Tri-County FFA at the Iowa State Fair. 🎡

Bristol Ward and Kayden McDonald exhibited in the FFA Floriculture Show.💐

🥇Bristol walked away with Champion Dahlia.🌼

🥇Kayden walked away with Champion Gladiolus and also placed 8th the Sweepstakes.🌷

Together both members entered 40 exhibits, with a large portion of them placing either first or second in their classes. Their great success awarded the Chapter 7th place in the Chapter Award. 💚

💜 They both plan to walk in the Parade of Champions with their corresponding exhibits on Saturday, August 15th at 3pm.

📺 If you are unable to make to the fair, the Parade of Champions will be aired on IPBS.

🙏🏻 We would also like to send a HUGE Thank You to Mr. Mike Striegel and Chloe Zittergruen. Their mentorship and expertise is large contributor to our chapter and our members success!
