This image is always moving because we love our state - but even more so appropriate with the west being on fire. Take good care, citizens of the sunshine state.

Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe: This was a special one. My wife and I exchanged meaningful gifts on our wedding day, pre-ceremony. She gifted me the most perfect pocket watch, something I’ve been searching for for a long time. Being the Tolkien nut that she is, my gift to her was this jewelry box, a nod to a homemade birthday card I gave her years ago. I glued together two pieces of walnut to get the desired thickness. I then jumped over to the . The inside was carved with the 7/16” dish carving bit and cut out with the 1/4” downcut bit. The bottom edge was rounded with the Freud 3/8” round-over bit. The lid details were also carved with the CNC and the doorknob was dangerously hand-shaped with an orbital sander 😬. Needless to say, I made her cry in front of her bridesmaids. Nailed it. @ Westchester, Los Angeles

Football Team Plaque: This one-of-a-kind piece was made from walnut and cutout and carved with the . The original logo needed to be modified to accommodate the carve. Oramask was applied before the carve to make for an easy paint job. To our surprise had official sports team colors ready to mix up in their paint center, giving this piece the perfect pop of color. @ Westchester, Los Angeles

Yellowfin Tuna Silhouette: We didn’t pay too much attention to our cuts on this one to give it a more rustic look. We unevenly rounded the edges of each mahogany plank before doing a “good old-fashioned glue-together” (term coined by my wife). We cut out the tuna on the and sanded everything smooth before applying a couple coats of water-based polyurethane, giving it a little bit of protection and a pop of contrast. @ Westchester, Los Angeles, California

Nutcracker Rehab: This last Christmas one of our regulars brought in a nutcracker who was missing his drum. We fabricated a new one from scratch using poplar. We used the oscillating spindle sander to shape the drum. After assembling it with CA glue, we primed it with and hand painted it. We added some leather cording for a finishing touch. Our client couldn’t believe her eyes when she picked him up. @ Westchester, Los Angeles, California
