NEW YORK - 🚨New Watch Alert 🚨I’d like to welcome a new addition to the collection. This is my new (to me) Roadster XL GMT, which I picked up this week from an excellent watch shop called . It’s always a bit nerve racking to buy a watch online sight unseen, but Armen and his staff were honest, professional and kind and this beautiful watch was exactly as advertised and sold to me at a fair price. I would recommend Beverly Hills Watch to anyone looking for “Previously Enjoyed” fine timepieces. For those who don’t follow Cartier history, the Roadster was produced from about 2002 to 2012 but was discontinued until this week, when Cartier announced the return of the Roadster at in Geneva. I actually got this watch two days before the announcement, so I guess I was ahead of the news. This version, the GMT, is not coming back, at least not yet, so I think it’s pretty special. The silver dial evokes a race car from the 1950’s. I took it on my road trip (well, train trip) this week to NYC for some late night CNN appearances. Afterwards, I found a new late night ramen spot in Times Square called .nyc. Pictured here is their Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu, which is a classic bowl that has stood the test of time, much like my new Roadster. Peace and Love. Watches and Ramen. ⌚️🍜🙏

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Did you know there was a new ramen spot in Georgetown? Neither did I! And I live in Georgetown! opened up a branch right on Winsconsin Avenue and I am HERE FOR IT. I had the Tonkotsu Black and it was On Point. The ramen came piping hot, with rich broth, firm noodles (hey now) and tasty toppings. I brought along my trusty 30th Anniversary Limited Edition FROGMAN. If it’s good enough for the Navy Seals to take into an underwater battle, it should hold up as I dive into this delicious bowl of Japanese goodness. Given that this is now the ramen shop closest to where I live, I figure I’ll be back again soon. Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all who observe. And to everyone else, Peace and Love. Watches and Ramen. ⌚️🍜🔥

NEW YORK - Ramen on the run. The Moynihan Train Hall near Penn Station has a lot of good food options. Usually I go for the “Works” at H&H Bagel or head to Pastrami Queen. But on this particular trip I decided to mix it up and try , a satellite outpost of their midtown shop. Now, the rule of thumb is that train station ramen is great in Japan and very risky anywhere else. But I am risk taker by nature, so i bought the ticket and took the ride. And I’m happy to report this was a very solid and satisfying (paper) bowl of ramen. The broth was rich. The noodles were firm. The chashu was well cured. I kept an eye on my train departure time with my trusty Tank Solo XL. This watch is an icon. Full of history but very much relevant today. Always the right choice when I’m in a New York state of mind. I like to think that Daniel Patrick Moynihan would have approved. Peace and love. Watches and ramen. ⌚️🍜🙏

NEW YORK - Back in the Lower East Side at , founded by Chef Shigetoshi Nakamura, considered one of the “Ramen Gods” in Japan. I went with the Tontoro Pork ramen (pictured here), which features a rich and creamy pork broth, chewy noodle, chashu pork, bamboo shoots, spinach, scallion, and red cabbage. This small shop is unassuming and frankly a bit hard to find, but the effort was worth the payoff. That’s how I also feel about my “Red Snowflake” SBGA421, which was very hard to find and very much worth the effort. This Japan-only version of the Snowflake was made in 2020 in partnership with the Association Japon de la Haute Horlogerie (AJHH) and limited to 290 pieces. Chef Nakamura brought his ramen ingenuity and excellence all the way from Japan to the USA; the least I could do is bring a great Japanese watch to his restaurant to wear while enjoying it. Peace and love. Watches and ramen.

NEW YORK - Very pleased tonight to return to one of my favorite spots , the Lower East Side outpost created by , who once moved to Japan and came back as a ramen fanatic, just like yous truly. I guess Ivan took it a bit farther than me. I just became a reporter for the Japanese newspaper. He created a Japanese ramen institution. I had the tonkotsu ramen (no surprise), which had a well honed pork broth, skillfully cured chashu, and Ivan’s signature buckwheat noodles. Our excellent server Stella recommends the chicken paitan. I’ll have to come back soon for that one. Thanks to the whole staff for a great experience and a top shelf bowl of ramen.

My watch tonight was my own Anniversary Calendrier ‘Azuki’, named after the Japanese bean paste of a similar color. Kurono, led by master watchmaker , is coming out with its first ever diver and I’m hoping he will see this post and give me an allocation because I am a true fan of the brand. If you can share this post, it could lead to me being able to obtain and then show you this very cool new watch. Watch this space. Peace and love. Watches and ramen.

ご縁があれば、新作をお迎えできれば光栄です

NEW YORK - I usually don’t repeat watches back to back, but my new No. 6 is so stunning, I didn’t think you guys would mind seeing it again. Took a break from pontificating on war on TV to find some peace and ramen love at .chelsea. This is one of my favorite ramen spots this side of Tokyo. The atmosphere is very refined but very chill. The staff are kind, friendly and super attentive. This bowl pictured here of New Tokyo Style Shoyu ramen is not only excellent, but true to its name. A fresh and interesting take on a time honored ramen genre. An innovation based on a tradition, executed with style, precision and care. The same can be said for my Otsuka Lotec No. 6. Master watchmaker .katayama and his team have created something new and beautiful based on a design language and a broader cultural tradition rooted in Japan’s past. That is the spirit of renewal, rebirth and resilience, a creativity that inspires and challenges us to keep moving forward even in tough times, with firm values but not strict rules. If you are feeling heavy with stress or angst about the state of the world, take a beat, eat some ramen, buy a watch, you might just feel better. At least that’s what works for me. Peace and love. Watches and ramen. ⌚️🍜🙏

TOKYO - Tonight, in a very special episode of live from Tokyo, I bring you the new, latest addition to my collection, the very unique and excellent No. 6 from Otsuka Lotec, the Japanese micro brand led by master watchmaker .katayama. I could go on about the awards this watch has won, but that is beside the point. Just look at it. The innovation, the craftsmaship, the finishing. The way the dial and design evoke a steam punk sensibility with a Japanese flare. Do you see an analog meter in the dial design, as Katayama-San said he was once inspired by? Or do you see a Japanese fan? Both answers are correct. This is Japanese watchmaking at its best. Old and new. Classic and modern. Radical and traditional at once. Special thanks to and the team at for making this happen. When you really want to work with the best in the watch business, trust in them, they come through. I’m also very grateful I was able to wear this watch while slurping down a very special and unique bowl of ramen at , the hands down best clam ramen shop in Tokyo, if not the world. Their bowls are like this watch, a mix of cannon and adaptation, both mind expanding and deeply familiar, and totally Japanese in the best ways. In this tiny shop in Gotanda, I enjoyed spending time with old friends and new. I left with a full heart and a full stomach. 2 more days in Tokyo so more watches and ramen to come. Peace and love. ⌚️🍜🙏

NEW YORK - What I really like about is that as soon as you walk in, you can tell it’s a neighborhood place. This Chelsea gem sticks to the basics and executes them well. The broth on my bowl of p**n bone (tonkotsu) ramen was rich but balanced, the chashu was well prepared and the noodles were the correct thickness and firmness for this genre of ramen. The staff was friendly and on this particular night, families were convening to enjoy the food and atmospheee. I was staying nearby on a work trip, so I downed a tall glass of .jp as I slurped this great bowl of ramen, which warmed my stomach and my soul. I just happened to have a very cool watch on, my Anniversary Calendrier ‘Azuki’. This watch by master watchmaker uses an art deco design language to evoke the sensibility of a classic car in the 1960s in Japan. “Azuki” refers to the deep maroon color of the red bean that lies at the heart of the pastries I became addicted to when I lived in Yokohama in the early aughts. That juxtaposition of old and new, tradition and innovation, continuity and change, is what interests me about watches - and ramen. I’m off to Tokyo next week to pick up a very special new watch and eat many many bowls of ramen, so watch this space (sorry) 😂. Peace and love. Watches and ramen. ⌚️🍜🙏

NEW YORK - Happy Birthday to me! Another year of highs and lows, love and loss, business and pleasure, war and peace, watches and ramen. This birthday for me started off in the Big Apple, where I was mixing business and pleasure by doing some TV hits and catching some great music. Somewhere in between I was able to slurp down this amazing bowl of ramen at in the West Village, an very cool shop I had never been to before but that will now be in the regular NYC ramen roster. Danbo got me in the door by advertising Fukuoka style tonkotsu ramen, which as fans of the channel know well, is my go to. But they made me a believer by offering me so much personal optionality to craft the bowl to my own specifications and then delivering on taste, craftsmanship and style. That’s why I had to pair this ramen with my own Black Back Pepsi GMT. This watch is both vintage and modern, both innovative and classic, both classy and casual. It’s a testament to recognizing and respecting the past while boldly embracing the future. That’s what this New Year means to me, and I hope your New Year will be full of inspiration and flavor. ⌚️🍜🙏

WASHINGTON - This is a latergram of a great bowl of ramen and a great watch, neither of which have been previously featured on this channel. My wife Mrs had Goldbelly send me from Brooklyn, the best matzoh ball / ramen mashup this side of the Pacific. She gets my Jewish-Japanese palette and so do the amazing people at Shalom Japan, a shop I hope to visit in person soon. As far as delivery ramen goes, it was a 10 out of 10. I paired it with a very special, new (to this account) watch from my collection. It’s a Casio G-SHOCK × Tomoyasu Hotei “CASIOAK” collaboration. Full model name: GA-2100HT-1A. If you don’t dig legendary guitarist, songwriter and producer , you are just not with it in my book. And one great ramen collaboration deserves one great watch collaboration for sure. We are all made up of contradictions that can be channeled into positive collaborations. In that spirit, all of us here at wish you and yours peace and love this holiday season. ⌚️🍜🙏
