Hi, everyone. I wanted to elaborate a little about myself & the purpose for this page. As it mentions under About Me I'm a 3x cancer warrior. Currently stage 4 uterine. I had my initial treatment in the summer of 2021. I go in every three weeks for my infusion. I haven't had a recurrence for four years. Though I've had other health issues pop up & they're being addressed. Taken care of, if it's something I've had awhile.
Before my diagnosis I was support staff for developmentally challenged adults. Helping them with goals, behaviors & taking them on activities. Staff didn't just support the clients. We supported each other. Management supported everyone. It was like a good, healthy family. It was the best job I've ever had. It didn't feel like work. Even though it had its challenges sometimes. Also a lot of joy.
I've been hoping to get back to that. The clients need people who can be consistent & dependable. I don't feel I'm quite there yet to have a regular schedule. In the meantime, I decided to do direct sales. I've been a customer of Paparazzi for a few years. I really like their pieces. The price is great too. I primarily receive benefits. So what I earn from this will supplement that. Only 25% will go toward that. The other 75% will go toward the places that I volunteer at.
I'm the main volunteer for the kitties at the Mendocino County Animal Shelter. Besides spending time with them, I take photos & make observations. To share on social, to help them get adopted. I socialize the more shy & anxious ones. I participate in the new volunteer orientation. Sharing my experience & helping them get acclimated. I've been going there for almost 10 years. Nine months ago I moved 1/2 an hour north. I still try to get down there at least once a week.
I've also started visiting the kitties at Humane Society of Inland Mendocino County. It's halfway between the shelter & where I live. I do the same things there, except participate in the orientation. I actually haven't had my own there yet. I did through the shelter. You also have to have one at whichever facility you're helping out at. So, I don't officially call myself a volunteer there yet. I help feed one of the colonies (ferals) in Willits. I also volunteer at the Willits Food Bank. 75% of what I earn through this will go to all of those. Especially for s/n for the ferals.
