Cady Carlson Designs

Cady Carlson Designs I am a custom jewelry designer and CAD-programmer who particularly enjoys updating older jewelry and working with ethically sourced materials.

A 2014 SCAD grad & 2024 GIA diamonds grad, I have a working studio complete with a mill. Cady Carlson (pronounced CāDee) designs and CAD-programs custom jewelry and objects for individuals and businesses. She specializes in working with clients to create meaningful custom jewelry with a particular interest in renewable materials, whether designing with conflict-free materials such as lab-grown sto

nes, or updating family heirlooms with existing gems or metal. She received training from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, where she earned a BA in Jewelry and a Concentration in Entrepreneurial Business in 2014, later that year launching Cady Carlson Designs. She also has studied in numerous workshops, and has received international recognition for her work. In addition, she is certified in and keeps up to date in Matrix and Rhino CAD software, as well as milling (has one in her studio), 3D printing and traditional casting methods. She is an active member in both the local art and technology communities, often incorporating both in her work. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but with the help of modern communication methods, she works with clients and vendors all over the world. Her website highlights some of her prior custom work and hand-made artisan jewelry. She also is in the process of developing a line of commercial jewelry, and her work is carried downtown Tulsa at the AHHA Gallery and retail store MADE.

πŸ‘’"Are you ready, Boots?"πŸ‘’
Hitch up the wagon, and head on over to https://onecau.se/bkauction2026 to bid on these hoops! These sterling silver and 14K yellow gold earrings were hand-forged to resemble actual boot spurs. The rustic-charm-meets-elegance is a must have for any cowgirl, and you can directly support (Bishop Kelley) students with each bid.....

It's FAQ Friday! What are we learning today?
Q: Why should I choose custom engagement rings?

A: There are many advantages for choosing to work with a custom jeweler! Here are my top favorites:
- You get exactly what you want! Something uniquely you, and a design no one else will have.
- You get expert advice. During consultation, I can recommend a style that fits your lifestyle. Do you work with your hands a lot? Let's design a ring that is low profile and features bezels to avoid snagging.
- Does your friend have a ring that keeps bending and is often in the shop for repairs? Well, many mass produced jewelry styles are created for looks, not longevity. Work with me, and I'll engineer a low-maintenance heirloom that fits your exact style.

So, what are you waiting for? Schedule a consult with me today!

It's FAQ Friday! What are we learning today?
Q: Should I buy lab created diamonds or natural?
A: That is entirely up to you -- both have their benefits and drawbacks, and both are 100% real diamonds. Despite common perception, lab grown stones are NOT necessarily an ethical option -- aside from the massive energy consumption, the facilities are also often run in a sweat-shop setting. To circumvent this, I only use large SCS Certified or recycled lab created diamonds, at a fraction of the price of natural diamonds. Natural diamonds have a romantic element and are scientifically fascinating on a geological level, but that does come with an increased price point. There is some evidence that their value is more stable, but I am cautious on this position due to market instability and advancing technology. Further, in the US, natural diamonds can legally be described as "ethically sourced" because they are subject to the Kimberley Process. This is an important and necessary process! But it is consistently unreliable for true ethical standards. This is why I only use recycled, CanadaMark, or SCS Certified diamonds.

P.S. In 2024 I received my certifications in Diamonds from Gemological Institute of America!
