What a joy to have my friends from at the Holiday Pop-Up today. The seed of typewriter love was planted in hearts of all ages, and some special machines found new homes.

Today was coffee, community, creativity, and Christmas cheer in living color.

It was the end of September 2002. It's so hard for me to believe that one month and a half before these photos were taken I had given birth to my first child and said goodbye to her, all in one day. Part of me remembers these moments so vividly and another part of me doesn't recognize that girl at all.

This was the trip when my love for beads and sparkles really took hold. I had previously jumped all w***y nilly into making jewelry but gave it up when I found out there would be a little one to look after. Obviously the time for creative endeavors was done and gone. Everything was quickly bagged up and stuffed into the back of my closet. And then Elena came and changed my perspective on everything.

Heading to Cambria that year for our regularly scheduled anniversary trip didn't seem right at first. Who felt like celebrating? What was the point? Thankfully we changed our minds. What would have undoubtedly been a sulky few days hiding at home with the curtains drawn instead became the spark that lit up the path leading right back to that bag in my closet.

It was a new beginning. Perhaps that's the part that looks so familiar to me, as I sit here on the verge of another new beginning. The name has changed, I have a dozen more years of life under my belt. But at the end of the day it's always been "Elena's Inspiration," all of it Elena inspired.

So there you have it, the beginnings of Facet & Stone. I still don't know where the path leads, but I'm grateful to be on it and to have the opportunity to share it with you.
