HeartWear Jewelry Each piece of jewellery I make is handmade and is therefore unique and one-of-a-kind. I am a self-taught jewellery artist.

The first jewellery book from which I learnt most of the fundamentals of metal-smithing was Tim McCreight’s “The Complete Metalsmith”. I found it to be an outstanding tutorial and would recommend it to all aspiring jewellery artists. When I look at a shell, I can picture the finished article, and I proceed to explore the potential depths of detail that I am hoping to expose. There is one message a

bove all that I return to, and that is that Nature’s beauty and wonder lie hidden in every aspect of the molluscs I use. Humans are similar, with multiple layers of hidden complexities, and only with love, compassion, understanding and a deep caring can we reveal the beauty that each one of us possesses. I care about my jewellery and each piece is unique and handmade with pride.

This extremely rare Rainbow Mussel Mabé Pearl is encased in a gold setting, designed to showcase the pearl's unique shape and colour, allowing the pearl to be the focal point of this treasured piece. The stunning colours range from brown, copper and gold to pink, purple, blue and green.
The shell itself is likely a unique specimen as the combination of the scarce shell and the rare Mabé Pearl on it make this piece truly one-of-a-kind. It is likely that there are very few other pieces like it in existence and it would make a remarkable addition to any collection.
The bezel is constructed from 18K gold and the bale is made from 14K gold. The back plate is Argentium Silver.

A lot of my jewellery is made from the Turbo Shell (Turbo Sarmaticus). Below are pics of the shells before and after they have been polished. Before polishing, the shell is rough and dry but after polishing, it is smooth and shiny and shows off it's amazing hidden beauty.

Finally, my dream has come true. 26 years after emigrating to the US from Africa, I now have my own permanent jewellery studio and worksop in my home. It's been a long and hard road but I am now ready to hit the ground running.
