It was one year ago today my life took a devastating turn. I was supposed to have surgery on August 8 and come home August 9, and as you know it didn't work out that way. A complication that happens only about once a year pretty much left me unable to read, write, walk, or talk. I worked so very, very hard and gave it everything I had for about a month at an amazing rehab hospital in KC, then more hard work for 9 hours a week outpatient rehab here in Spfd. until January then tapered off to 1 hour per week. Then, on April 3 after 239 days I finished rehab.
It really has been worth the journey. Thank You to all who have helped and supported me along the way. I don't remember much that first week except feeling devastated and wanting to come home. I wasn’t able to make good decisions. So, a very Special THANK YOU to those who worked to make sure the decisions made would give me the best chance at recovery, and that was to transfer from KU to a KC Rehab Hospital. And, to everyone who was there for me with for visits, rides to appointments, cards, calls, prayers, meals, FB messages, emails, caring for my Fur-babies Sassy Kat & Buffy and so on...THANK YOU. Carol (my friend in KC and solid rock) and I talked this morning and Celebrated over the phone. I wish I had though to have had her take some pictures as I mad progress.
I'm so thankful and feel so blesses that COVID didn't hit while I was going through this ordeal, it would have really complicated the journey, and possibly even kept me from reaching this much recovery.
