While knee-deep in odoriferous bait, working as a stern-woman aboard her husband’s lobster boat, Tenley tried to envision a way to capture the “romance” of the fishing process. The result: recycling lobster shells to create a beautiful piece of jewelry that celebrates the tradition behind this demanding industry.
“There is nothing more beautiful to me than sparkling shells upon a shore,” shares t
he artist. “Capturing this glistening beauty and commemorating this Maine icon is what I try to embrace in the creation of each unique piece of jewelry.”
Taking her inspiration from lobster and mussel shells and the sheer beauty and wonder of the Maine coastline, Tenley designs jewelry that captures the beauty that only nature can create. In her jewelry, she combines her passion for the sea with her artistic spirit.
