We just wrapped up the Communities of Opportunity (COO) - NextCycle Washington Capacity Building program, and we are so grateful for the experience. Thanks to King County, WA’s Solid Waste Division, NextCycle Washington, and the COO Learning Community—we collaborated with amazing teams focused on reuse, repair, and composting.
This pilot really proved that the heart of the circular economy is the community. By bringing sustainable habits right into our neighborhoods, projects like ours do so much more than just keep waste out of landfills. We are making sharing and repairing accessible to everyone, building lasting skills locally, and proving that “waste” can actually be a valuable asset that strengthens our communities from the ground up.
