Last night we were watching TV and after a couple quiet minutes thought —where’s David? We found him cozy in the spare bedroom. He even pulled a blanket over himself. I love these peeks into his personality and preferences. He’s such a love I just wanna snuggle up beside him! 😍 So cute, right?!

During his long hospital stay a couple years ago, when we were finally able to get David off life support, I remember arriving at the hospital in the morning with Steve. We were walking down the hallway in the ICU and David was sitting up in his bed SMILING. It was like the sun started shining again. We said to each other, all of this was worth it just to see that smile one more time. Thank you God.
David was giddy last night—bouncing off the couch and laughing so hard. If I could bottle up that joy I’m sure it could heal any heart and bring the deepest joy. I am the luckiest to get to experience his light and love. ❤️

Having grown up children is AWESOME. I love it. I was heartbroken when Matthias started college because I felt like years of building were over and now our family was breaking apart. It’s so hard to ‘let our kids go’. But you guys, that bond, that closeness is still there. It’s just as sweet—if not sweeter! They still need us. And we get to watch them thrive and live and grow. It’s so fun! So much of it comes down to perspective, right? Sometimes I walk by Matthias’ empty room and that ache feels tender. I miss having him here at home. But I LOVE knowing he’s out there fully living life and I know our bond is strong. Mother’s Day is right around the corner and the jewelry represents the deep bond of love we share. Nothing can break that bond—not even death. Being a Mother changes us. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking and it’s amazing. I love these humans!
