An “80’s Baby” born in Oakland, California during an era where Bay Area Legends like Toni Tony Tone, Mc Hammer, En Vogue, The Escovedo Family, Kim Burrell, Daryl Coley, The Hawkins Family, Too Short, E-40, Digital Underground and the late great Tupac Shakur, to name a few were at the top of their game… Ms. She was born into a well-known
musical family in their own right the Cable/Bynums. FeltTip would spend several hours studying Bay Area Legends in churches and venues while her mother sang background vocals. Her Aunt, Jennifer Cable is the well-known Gospel soprano with the Operatic voice that graced the silver screen in the film, “Hustle & Flow”. FeltTip would study her aunt, hours upon hours at the piano. By the age of five she was singing solos at banquets, churches and local talent shows. And by the age of eleven she was writing and arranging music. FeltTip received a scholarship to study music, dance and theater at the East Bay Center for Performing Arts in Richmond, California. Her instructors often referred to her as a child prodigy. During her high school years, Ms. FeltTip shied away from the spotlight and decided to pursue a career as a dancer and background vocalist. By her junior year she reconnected with her first love (music, the pen and the pad) and began writing floetry styled poetry. Growing up in the streets of Richmond, California an artistic outlet was very much needed… and for her a coping mechanism. Unbeknownst to her, writing poetry was developing her God given gift; helping to fulfill her destiny as a songwriter. FeltTip has done session work and background vocals for many Bay Area Gospel and R&B artist. Most recently she had the pleasure of singing on Derrick Hall & Company’s latest project (a group her mother sang with in the 90’s). Brother Derrick Hall encouraged her to seriously pursue music and served as a mentor. FeltTip poses many star like qualities, she finds fulfillment and deep passion for writing, arranging and background vocals. FeltTip created Felt Tip Productions because she believes the Bay Area has a plethora of singers, songwriters and musicians who can make an impact on the Industry of Music. FeltTip is an up & coming singer/songwriter and visionary who is ready to make her mark in the Industry. She gets her name “Ms.FeltTip” from the fact that she can write a song in thirty minutes and writes as smooth and beautiful as a felt tip pen. Her influences come from all genres of music including: Classical, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Country and R&B… Which gives her a truly unique blend.
