If you follow my work, you know I love to open my mind to a story a stone might suggest. This quartz reminded me of sudden late spring showers; slanting rain above sunny blossoms. A joyful surprise that makes spring last longer. The laughter of the Kachina becomes a cascade of blossoms, carried on the shimmer of light and rain across the landscape.

Transparent, opalescent, glass-lump, and painting enamels are layered over .999 silver foil and black enamel, creating luminous depth and movement. Brazilian quartz, garnets, Mexican opals, a diamond, and natural crystal black tourmaline bring flashes of light and color throughout the piece. She has a strand of gem and gold beads that suits her to a T!

Created in 24k and 14k yellow gold and Argentium silver. She has repousee’ on her sleeve.

A celebration of renewal, nature’s determination to heal, and the unexpected beauty that appears when joy is allowed to bloom.

Each piece unfolds in its own time; ideas percolate, drawings develop, enamels build, stones are selected and arranged, and metalwork is built and refined. When all that is done, the necklace is designed and strung, the poem is written and engraved on the back with signature, date, and number. I spend hours thinking about themes, color, texture, balance, emotion, and meaning…before the physical work can begin.

No part of the process can be sidestepped or rushed. No part is done by other hands. Every part is intentional.
I’m not a patient person, even though pieces can take weeks. It is the adrenaline-thrill, the workmanship-of-risk that keeps me at my benches, hyper-focused on the smallest details. Those smallest details can change everything: a line, a color, a highlight or shadow, one stone, one bead.

It is slow work, but thrilling! When a piece finally comes together, joy is the reward as time + focus + hope become part of what you see and what you wear.

Kabuki Kachina Festival Dancer

Festival dancer ~
robed in flowers,
posey perfumed,
she flies across the meadow
in joyful Sol’s embrace.

She is exuberance! A celebrant of summer, a dancer in sunlight and colors. Inspired by the simple happiness in vintage Italian micro-mosaic, I imagined a young woman overtaken by the spirit of Summer festival, of abundant ripening, and her own innocent vitality! She dances in the sunlight adorned with blossoms, dressed in layer on layer of joyfully patterned enamel details layered with gold and silver foils. I’ve added Millefiori elements to her design (one fired, a graduated row, half melted, and three tiny slices); flowers scattered across a tapestry, a summer celebration.

She has a 3-strand necklace of lapis, tourmalines, gold and pearls really in tune with her while 24k, 14k gold snd Argentium silver provide the fabricated and engraved structure that brings it all together.
