Mayan Market One-of-a-kind, up-cycled purses using traditional indigenous materials from women's skirts and shirts from Guatemala and beautiful beaded jewelry!

With so many beautiful embroidered shirts and back loom fabrics in Guatemala how could I not create these gorgeous bags? I fell in love with the Mayan culture and its people while traveling there 4 years ago. A short trip that was scheduled to be three days, turned into two of the most beautiful months of my life. I was intrigued by the indigenous people of Guatemala and also their traditional dre

ss. These "huipiles" (traditional Mayan women's shirts) and "cortes" (backloom fabrics used as skirts) are gorgeous. The purses you see on my site are always lined inside and with a zippered pocket. They are each one-of-a-kind! Find the one that "calls" to you and know that it came from an indigenous woman's piece of clothing!
