the world-renowned Goldschmiede und Uhrmacherschule in Pforzheim, Germany, where she earned her diploma for Goldsmith with Honors. In 1987, she immigrated to San Diego, and opened Mirjam Butz & Brown Jewelers in 1991. Since then, Mirjam has been recognized and awarded numerous times, earning many of the industry's highest honors. Among her prestigious awards in several categories are the Spectrum Awards, Platinum Honors, and Palladium Prestige Awards. She has offered her collections in international jewelry designer shows, and has contracted with exclusive jewelers nationwide including Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. Because of Mirjam's advanced craftsmanship, other designers often come to her when they are confronted with technical challenges in executing their visions. Some designers have commissioned Mirjam to carry out their designs, whose pieces later won awards. This beautiful 6 carat sapphire was originally in a pronged yellow gold setting which darkened it's look tremendously. To brighten up this stone I custom designed this ring with a scalloped half bezel and a high polished reflecting bowl underneath it.
