Friday,, a giant company who was named one of 2022's fastest growing companies and ironically, was built to empower female business owners, ghosted not only their customers but their vendors who supplied all the products they sold (who they owe millions in payouts to).
I was one of their vendors. We are one of the lucky ones and are not out as much as some. Some of my business friends are owed 10s of thousands and are being forced to make very difficult decisions right now.
Jane.com completely disappeared overnight.
Website offline. Dashboard gone. No access to our financials. No explanation. No communication. Social media comments shut off.
But still sent me an email at 5am to buy stuff while evidently having an all staff meeting a few hours later to pass out final paychecks. And many people received their holiday catalogues in the mail.
Nice.
Guess who was panicking about customer service?
The small businesses at the end of the line.
The ones shipping the orders anyway because it's not the customer's fault either.
The ones who are most likely NOT going to get paid when this is all said and done.
THIS is the perfect example of corporate priorities vs small business priorities.
You have a choice everyday but this holiday I encourage you support small.
As part of us working together to minimize the damage this company has done to multiple shops over the last 24 hours and beyond, we have put together a Shop Small Mega-Mall guide of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals from stores impacted as well other small businesses we support.
Explore unique finds and exclusive deals at https://becauseican.com/ where every purchase makes a meaningful impact on an actual family.
There are NO affiliate links or commission in this guide- 100% goes to the businesses.
(I adapted this from another vendor’s post because I’m still in shock that this even happened. Unbelievable.)
