Did you know that damaged dollar bills don't just disappear - they get replaced with special notes marked with a star? 💵⭐

In this clip, we break down what star notes actually are: when a bill gets damaged during printing or circulation, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing replaces it with a new note that carries a star symbol at the end of the serial number. These replacement notes keep the same series information as the originals but are printed in much lower quantities - which is exactly why collectors seek them out.

Because of that low print run, star notes can be worth significantly more than their face value to currency collectors. The rarer the run, the more desirable the note.

It's one of those facts about everyday money that most people walk right past without ever noticing - and once you know it, you'll never look at a dollar bill the same way again. 👀

These aren't your average PEZ dispensers - they're 5-gram silver bars shaped like PEZ bricks, and the mintage numbers on these are surprisingly low.

In this clip, we're breaking down a 2023 Silver PEZ Reindeer Set - six individual 5-gram silver pieces that together come in just under one troy ounce. What makes this set stand out is the mintage: only 3,000 reindeer sets were produced, meaning there are just 18,000 individual silver PEZ pieces from this set in existence. Factor in a potential Snoopy version and a few other sets, and you might be looking at 50,000-200,000 total - but even at the high end, anything under 50,000 mintage is considered quite rare in the collectible silver world.

One of us already has loose silver PEZ pieces without the figures - turns out they likely came from sets exactly like this one, making the complete sets even more collectible.

Low mintage + novelty design + silver content = a conversation piece that serious collectors should know about.

For June, the giveaway is going numismatic - and it's a good one. 🥈

This month's free giveaway prize is a graded 1889 Morgan Dollar, and the story behind how it got graded is worth knowing. Jordan pulled it from a batch of coins they sent off for grading, using a simple rule: anything grading AU55 or above is worth the cost to certify. This one made the cut - and since Morgan dollars are consistently the most popular coins on their Whatnot shows, it made perfect sense to make a graded Morgan the June giveaway prize.

A large-format 1923 "horse blanket" dollar hits the block - and nobody's quite sure what it's worth. 💵

In this clip, a collection of large-size U.S. currency comes up for sale on a Whatnot live show, including several 1923 and 1935 notes. The standout piece is a 1923 horse blanket dollar - a massive bill that dwarfs anything in a modern wallet - in what appears to be AU (About Uncirculated) condition. The team openly admits they don't normally deal in paper currency, so they start the big note at just $100, knowing it's worth more. Research suggests these can range from $100 to $400 depending on condition, and this one looks clean. It sells for $110 - and yeah, there's probably a juicy profit margin in there for the buyer.

If you've ever been curious about large-size U.S. currency, horse blanket dollars, or how condition affects value on these old notes, this one's worth a watch.

An 1889 Morgan Dollar with beautiful AU toning just sold for $50 on Whatnot - a coin that should have gone for $70 to $80 easy. 💰

With a melt value already sitting around $58 in silver alone, this one was already a deal before you even factor in the grade. But throw in that rich, natural toning on the reverse and an AU designation? This thing walked out the door at half what it was worth.

The hosts caught it themselves mid-sale - "this is definitely not a $50 piece" - and it still went. That's just how the Whatnot auctions run sometimes. Fast, live, and occasionally very generous to the buyer.
