Ok! Everyone please read! Southern Arizona is being poisoned by foreign mining companies and corrupt agencies that were supposed to protect us.
PLEASE SHOW UP TO THIS MEETING SEPTEMBER 10!!!!!
Before this blows up…and it will, I want to take a moment to put it in perspective.
We created this group to educate the community about the threat Copper World poses to our safety, health, property values, way of life. Several people in this group live in that neighborhood. They’ve been saying this same thing happened a couple years ago…white residue, sick and dead pets. So, something is happening over there.
This is not connected to Sycamore Canyon as far as we know. That wash starts at the mines. Copper World and Emerys (Purchased by Cimbar in 2022) share the same roads and are both connected to this wash that runs through the Endrada neighborhood, south of Sahuarita Rd, by Mann, Kolb and Wilmot Rd area. I am hearing the damage extends to Sahuarita Rd.
First, I want to thank and congratulate Chris for doing a fantastic job reporting and now organizing the neighborhood, gathering information about vomiting pets, tagging locations, and gathering any documentation of what happened a couple years ago. They did everything right!
This is extremely important as we have been telling ADEQ NOT to grant these permits to Hudbay. This mine is too huge, too close, too under-regulated and they have been parroting what they have been told to say to us by the “shareholders” and their leadership.
This spill originated from Cimbar, according to initial reports. Hudbay is going to try to distance themselves from this. That’s going to be difficult as they are located directly next to Cimbar.
But, it proves our point! What goes on up there will not stay up there with our volatile wind and rain! Had Copper World been up and running, that neighborhood would be drenched in sulfuric acid laced slurry. Hudbay is dumping in and filling in washes up there now!
As you know, ADEQ has scheduled a meeting at the Corona Foothills Middle School on September 10th, to hear our “comments” regarding the Copper World air permit. They will send their team down to face our wrath. I think that is unacceptable, frankly. I want Karen Peters, the state legislature and any other shareholders to put on their big boy pants and show up themselves to hear what we have to say about pushing this huge, dangerous mine through with little to no monitoring for at least two years!
Hudbay’s CEO has assured their investors they have a very tight relationship with ADEQ. I want to talk to the decision makers!
I will be emailing her in a couple days asking for this. Waiting for the report saying what this stuff is, first. Do I need to point out this is an all hands on deck moment and we need everyone at this meeting? 🤔
Share with friends and family, post something in local groups. We need to show up and protect our community. This time, we got them.
