New chainmail earrings in the ribbon weave! I made these for the Rome Spring Art Market, April 10 and 11 at the Rome, GA civic center. These are so lightweight and so pretty, and I looooved making them! Hope to see you there! And anything we don’t sell will be on our website. :)

Spring is here, and the birds have returned, so we have spring birdhouse earrings! We’re getting these ready for the Spring Art Market in Rome, but we’ll have them on our website as well. If you want a tiny, cute birdhouse, let us know! They’re so cute! Each one is beaded cross stitch and made by hand.

Experimenting is fun! Now that I’m making my own jump rings I wanted to see how the ribbon weave looked with 18 gauge rings connecting the larger 16 gauge rings with the beads.

I made both 4mm and 4.5mm rings. I didn’t know which one would work better; whether the 4mm would be too small or if the 4.5mm would give more space for the beads to nestle within the weave.

The answer is 4mm. It’s tight enough to maintain the weave, but not so much that the beads can’t align. Whereas the larger 4.55mm rings actually get in the way of the beads and makes the weave look messy.

From now on 4mm it is! I like the slightly chunkier look of the 18 gauge wire for these smaller rings over the 20 gauge I was using previously. It really adds to the copper’s aesthetic, I think.
