Decolonize Abundance

To “Decolonize Abundance” is to believe that there is enough in this world to meet everyone’s needs and desires if we aim to live in such a way that rejects scarcity, embraces gratitude and heals our land.

Semi personal update: at a time when I feel like Decolonize Abundance could have the most impact I have found myself in the space where I have to focus on my family and DA has been pretty silent.

Tragedy struck at the end of last year and I am now working two jobs and focusing on my kids health.

Or maybe this is how life teaches me to inspire and help others. At a time when so much help is needed it feels revolutionary to keep asking for help. And reaching out when you might be having a good week to lift someone else up during that process.

Ive seen folks here recently sort of shut down and stop reaching out. Please do reach out. I cant promise that I can help everytime but I listen or brainstorm with you.

Overall, this is just a note to say, Yes Im struggling too but I see you and we can get through this together.

First up and hoping I can finish this in a week. Economy Hall is about a collection of journals found by the authors family in their home in New Orleans. They were written by Black men who were members of the Société d’Economie et d’Assistance Mutuelle (Economy and Mutual Aid Association) between the years 1830 to 1930 I believe.

It's already fascinating. I cannot imagine uncovering a history like that in your home.

Do we have any followers from New Orleans?

Happy Black History Month!

Today I am thinking about current times and how they might been seen in history. I don't want to wait to honor anyone until after they're gone. There are people who belong in history books who need our support. I'd like us to take care of each other NOW.

There is a long history of mutual aid in Black history and I aim to dig into it this month. Ill be posting on all Decolonize Abundance pages if you'd like to follow along please do!

Cant sleep again. This time for a very different reason. Yesterday I reached out and asked for help. This felt like a bad thing that needed doing. But it wasn't. It was a testimony to the power of community. I am learning how to accept the good with the bad.

Some folks will judge me and say well you shouldn't have a dog or you shouldn't have eaten out that day etc. Others will applaud my bravery for reaching out. Knowing I can accept both for what they are is a blessing.

Now the question is how can I apply this to the world at large? I accept that this hellscape is our new normal. In fact I've been learning to accept this world for what it truly is since 2016. But what about the community I have made because of it? The joy we bring each other. The support in times of grief. The zoom meetings and DMs with late night convos sharing our joys and pain.

I am not suggesting some won't lose everything and we need to grieve but I am suggesting we also don't forget the good being done inspite of the suffering.

Keep this pushing you to grow, to read or listen, to stay the course and not give up on making a difference. Don't give up. I promise I won't give up on these dreams of ours and I hope you will join me.

Yesterday when I got to work I found this necklace on my desk. Life has been exceptionally hard lately but one thing I have been able to do is find the silver linings. This was a sign to me that I am on the right path. Sometimes your brain lies to you so much that you even question your own positivity.

Ihadn't seen my coworker in days due to busy schedules and yet she knew what I needed without asking or knowing how I had been able to stay positive despite the incredibly tough week I have had.

Maybe she knows me. Maybe it was a coincidence? Nah. I know what it is. It's synchronicity.
