WasteNot Jewelry Bringing life and meaning to wood as unique as the people who purchase them

Decided to tackle my unfinished pile of hair sticks that I’d carved weeks ago, and I had a visitor. Needless to say I didn’t get much done 😂

A couple years ago I met an amazing artist, , on . Watching her lives, and other artists on the platform, inspired me to take up a paintbrush again. I had painted carvings I’d made on wood, and did some basic painting on wood earrings, but my first “real” painting on canvas was a flower for my mother in law. I drew a flower on the canvas, my just painted the background, and I painted the flower I’d drawn😅.
Over the years I had become very timid and insecure about my artistic abilities. Specifically painting.
I wanted to express myself in more ways, but I was afraid. Then I met Barbara and the other artists on whatnot. I watched art demos, and chatted with artists about their work, and I felt inspired again. I felt the desire to pick up a paint brush and try again.
All I had were craft paints we used for wood projects, cardboard, because I wanted to use something I wouldn’t feel bad about throwing away if it turned out terrible 🙃, and a brain full of insecurities and ideas. Then I started painting. Here’s a tip: paint with glitter in it is more exciting to paint with 😆.
I’ve graduated myself to painting on canvas now, but I still like to paint on unconventional materials because that’s were I started.
As an adult I learned something I didn’t know as a kid: it’s not always a competition. There is room for all. ❤️

Getting a little crazy with the trees 😬. Made these in one weekend, recovered for a week abs started putting them on bases 😂. Prepping for the Hanmadang in Eugene, Oregon this weekend. Just need to put the last one on a base, and finish the other trees I’ve started. So many trees! Thanks for the wire!

Happy holidays everyone! I tried something new this holiday season for the hubs Christmas present. I have a plethora of gorgeous gems I got from (follow her 😉). To prevent them from gathering dust, and so that I can fund my gemstone addiction 😂, I’ve decided to set them in wood.
First attempt and half of the hubs Christmas present. He’ll get the other half sometime…..

Haven’t been in the best mind space lately so I’ve been trying new things. Pulled out the paints again and piece of scrap wood and painted mountains. Used thick globs of paint and moved them around with giant popsicle sticks until I got mountains 😂. Then used a paper towel to blend parts of the sky. I have no idea what I’m doing, and it’s so freeing.

More art things! But on wood this time! The three not colored will be wood burned. I plan on making a bunch of these. Any suggestions on what I should draw next?
