A Unique Gift for Brides ("Something Old, Something New) or for Anyone Who Loves the Unique Style of Vintage! I first started The Honeyspooners back in 2014, a year after my husband Gary was diagnosed with a complicated disease called Advanced Systemic Sarcoidosis with IGg Kappa Symptomatic MGUS. With all the doctors, specialists, tests, MRI's, scans, and prescriptions, the medical bills started t
o pile up. And since my husband stopped working ever since he became ill in 2013, I became the sole bread winner, and my 9 to 5 job (which I still have because my husband needs an awesome and affordable medical insurance plan) wasn't enough to support the bills that were coming in so quickly. I fell in love with the idea of turning old, beat up vintage silverware into beautiful pieces of jewelry, and also saving them from being melted down at metal refineries. So I pulled out my pink tool box, and got to hammering silverware around pipes like a crazy cave woman. And thru trial, error, and some gnarly blisters.......The Honeyspooners was finally born. I get lots of compliments and giggles about my business name. I just simply say "Well, I'd rather be known as The Honeyspooners instead of The Honeyforkers lol". I wanted to have a name that had a vintage ring to it since all the silverware/flatware I use is indeed vintage. And since Gary and I were newlyweds in 2013, I thought of the old t.v. show The Honeymooners. We absolutely love that era of classic & muscle cars, the music, pin-up & rockabilly style, and anything really from the 30's to the 50's. Back when stuff was built to last! So that's our story behind the name, the creation, and the birth of my micro business. My husband Gary is a tough cookie and has a great uplifting attitude. He is still taking a small handful of medications for pain management, and immunosuppressants to help manage his Sarcoidosis disease. There is no cure for Sarcoidosis. Remission may be possible, which is what we are desperately trying to achieve, but until that happens, we will have to manage the disease as best as we can. We hope that we can bring some awareness of Sarcoidosis and the many lives that it affects so greatly. For more information on Sarcoidosis, go to STOPSARCOIDOSIS.ORG
